Giorno Steemit, oggi condivido con voi uno scatto meraviglioso dalla Stazione Spaziale Internazionale ( ISS ): a sinistra l'Oceano Pacifico, a destra la cordigliera delle Ande!
L'insenatura in primo piano è il "gomito d' Arica", al confine tra Cile e Perù, e la zona arida in basso è il celebre deserto di Atacama!
Good morning Steemit, today i share a wonderful photo from the International Space Station (ISS): to the left the Pacific Ocean, to the right the Cordillera de Andes!
The inlet in the foreground is the "elbow of Arica", on the border between Chile and Peru, and the arid below is the famous Atacama desert!
Proprio su quelle montagne, sorge il telescopio piu grande del mondo, l' E-ELT ( European Extremely Large Telescope ), con un diametro dello specchio primario di 39mt.
Just on those mountains, there is the world's largest telescope, the E-ELT (European Extremely Large Telescope), with a primary mirror diameter of 39mt rises.
Forse non ci si rende conto di quanto sia immenso, qua lo vediamo a confronto con il nostro amato Colosseo!
Perhaps you do not realize how immense it is, here we see it in comparison with our beloved Colosseum!

That telescope is enormous! Do they receive quite a bit of information from it? How far can see and hear and explore with it?

Ulteriori info che ho trovato, dicono che L'Italia ha un ruolo fondamentale nella costruzione del telescopio (che si prevede operativo nel 2024).
