Family Conflict and Spiritual Growth

Why is that when we are growing spiritually our relationship with the people whom we love most, usually become the most challenging?

This is simply because this is the group of people who know us the best and often times is the most attached to making sure we stay "safe" or connected to them.

Our spiritual evolution is usually connected to us transcending convention. Conventional ways of relating, conventional ways of eating, of pursuing a career, how we spend our time, and more...

The word relationship means to RELATE.

If the people who are closest to us feel that they are starting to struggle to relate to us, then they will do anything in their power to keep us familiar.

That may even come out aggressive and unpleasant at times.

This is usually a reflection of them feeling as if they are losing control. Not that they want to control us perse, but they are losing control of being able to maintain their connection to us.

Have compassion and have understanding.
