RE: STEEMFAT: The eternal struggle - Drinking Beer vs Working out.

in #life7 years ago

Ah yes, my friend, you raise the eternal question. In life we have the dilemma of two equally persuasive goals. Leon Festinger came up with the concept of Cognitive Dissonance years ago when he talked about two opposing forces pulling us in opposite directions.

We know that working out is good. Moderate and proper exercise is good for our health both mentally and physically. Not only do we know this intellectually (we've all read magazines and heard about it), but we know it viscerally when we feel those endorphins and dopamine juice kick in.

However, that tasty beer can be mighty persuasive. A nice glass of just the right beverage at just the right time can be tasty, relaxing, and many medical studies do in fact back up the health benefits of moderate amounts. Sharing it with good friends makes for a well-lived life.

Ah, there's the rub, as they say. So what's a struggling Steemian to do? I go back to that time-honored adage to embrace moderation. Yes, that is easy to say, and almost expected in a discussion like this. However, it has wisdom. A moderate amount of beer seriously can be healthy. I've studied a wee bit of the benefits of one of my favorites, Japanese sake and yes, there are many physical, medial benefits. Those wonderful people in Russia tell us about the benefits of vodka. Used in the right proportions, these and other alcoholic beverages can be beneficial to your health.

Again, moderation is a key.

I'll leave this with a quote from my fellow American, Mark Twain ,who wisely told us, "Moderation in all things --- including moderation!"

Be well my friend. Thank you for sharing this!
