Clearing out invasive plants
Lots of progress in clearing out the undergrowth and invasive Japanese Honeysuckle out of the smaller grove of trees.
This is what it did look like before we started and getting it cleared.
We have had a few things to slow us down on clearing the undergrowth and brush, mainly rainy weather on days off where work can get done. But this week since we are waiting on others so we can move forward we have had a few hours to work on the property. Sadly a few trees in the grove had to come down and we still have one left that has to come down as the Japanese Honeysuckle killed them.
This first photo shows the work my son and husband got done yesterday, they did get a big chunk out of it yesterday.
This is the poor tree that still needs to come down as it is dead and we don't want it falling and hurting anyone.
Don't worry if you are a nature love like I am, and hate seeing trees cut down. We are gonna replace the ones that have to come down. We still have the larger grown to clear out too, though I doubt it will get that clear this year, it will be likely next year before we can fully enter our woods.

those Japanese Honeysuckle bushes were killing the trees now the ones that are healthy have chance, they are considered invasive here as they kill the native plants. We are going to be planting native plants around the property and get the rest of it removed from the woods. It is going to take a while to clear it all we have a big patch of woods. But if we don't all the trees will die out. And some already have. There area couple of large trees that came down in the last large storm in our bigger grove. So we are gonna get all that invasive plants out of there, get the dead trees out, and plant new trees to replace every single on that has to come down. Trees are dangerous when they are dead.
Hard work but well worth it, it is sad to have to cut dow trees but if they are dying then they need to go for safety and as you say you will be planting more

We are going to be planting new trees for the ones we have to take out. Native trees as we want to be kind to the planet, and to our environment. But that Japanese HoneySuckle had to go. And so does the rest of it and the trees that are dead have to go also, two right away, but the last storm brought at least two trees down in the big grove of trees we have. Honeysuckle kills everything and there is about 50 years of unchecked growth going on. I know some of it has survived you can see that from the tree tops, but that stuff has to go before it kills those trees completely off. Yes it will look bare compared to how it is now, but we will be accessing our woods, and will make it a place where wild life will want to actually be.
Yes I read why you had to take them down and understood that they had to go but I do love that you will be planting more natural tress back that is indeed very good for the environment :)
When I see dead trees, I think "firewood". I lived in the country for about 20 years before I moved to the little town I'm in now. We heated the house with firewood as much as we could, it saved a lot on the heating bill. It was a lot of work though, trying to get enough wood for the winter.
Yeah we have a wood burning stove now we have some wood for it and we have a ton of split wood that a neighbor on our new property and doesn't want to remove that we will have to move or use. I think we are going to be putting a wood stove in the garage as a heat source. If we don't use it or we get way too much to use, we can always sell some of it
