a short bus ride later it’s time for laundrette laptop club: always be optimising your time.

after a quick bus ride to the local launderette we’ve got the big washer all loaded up and ready to rock while @dayleeo is over the road at the second hand shop seeing if there is any christmas stuffs she can be getting a good deal on.

ah it feels good to have a working laptop again. i don’t know about you but my headspace and my creative outputs is very much governed by my usage of free time, the one main reason to repair the laptop was for the keyboard, this thing has been broken in, it’s @dayleeo ’s ex laptop from like ten years ago, a decade old macbook but perfect for daily blogging on — and it’s got all it’s keys in tact, i feel like i’m winning on it! :)

was kinda interesting catching up with the comments from my post this morning about the fear, or how scared people get when things in crypto change, i guess it’s why people panic, i’m always interested to see if people are putting in resources they don’t have into these things.

i feel that while there is a demand for a different way to exchange value we will always have cryptos, payment methods, exchanges of value always coming out on a daily basis, we will always have people in the higher echelons of society wanting to slow it down, regulate it, put in middlemen to treat it like some kind of reductionist system because that’s the place where greed and power exist, in the manipulation of the outcome.

for me crypto is funds i never had for time that i used to give away for free in the hope of getting the work part — now their is more value in sharing my process pipeline than the actual work, that’s something new for a digital creative using a social blockchain.

while i’ve got forty five rough minutes here to wait for the spinning cylinder of doom to do it’s thing i can really utilise this time better instead of sitting on this chinese made plastic chair looking out the window, i can actually truly reflect on my surroundings, this keyboard is just my terminal out to you the viewing public and to give you a geo position on where my grey matter is today — i love that, it’s so direct, it’s my idea of real B2B or brain to brain! :)

when i was travelling back and forth to get ella every weekend on trains and buses i would have a whole structure to my blogging, i even had a jacket made with a space in the front for my keyboard, i really got a lot of quality time out of the iPad 2 and the wireless keyboard combo — it’s perfect for quick and dirty blog writing and because it was cellular too meant i could fire it up straight away.

take now for instance, i’m weathered up to my mobile phone on a 4g VPN connection and i’ve uploaded the photo of this blog post to cloudapp, grabbed the direct link to the image, dropped it in the post and it’s ready to publish, i’m writing this in BEAR so i don’t lose it in the post body form on steemit (yes at one time we lost posts) and so i can pick this up in my favourite editor at any time — we really do have amazing tools these days to be anywhere at anytime to get our thoughts out! :)

i’d spend time on the first train knowing i had forty minutes, an hour on another bus, waiting between swapping trains to record audio or video, just where my head was at recordings and just little transition energy moments, most of the time it was just self narration i think that i was living and not existing but when i look back it was those two thousand blog posts on me.dm that gave me enough google juice for the site to be found and eventually bought of it, it took a long time for it to happen mind and the whole site was very ‘long tail’ in that the niche was me rabbiting on.

and i think that’s where i’m going with this post, things take time. just because we have always on access doesn’t always mean that you are gonna get always on results. it’s easy to get caught up in the hype train and excited that you are going to make more money on the money you put in. maybe you just see this as choices and that it’s giving you more choices and feel a little suppressed when things change, i get that — but trust me, you have to keep plugging away, your time will come if you are authentic and positive about your intention.

try and live a ruleset like some of the google engineers do with the 80/20 rule, 80% work and job and process and 20% experimenting on your own ideas and concepts, those can be self improvements or self hacks if needed, always leave a little for yourself to learn and you will have less of those rollercoasters in life — today for instance because crypto is red across the board this morning is a day i won’t follow the markets, i don’t have funds to buy at the cheap prices (if it drops to $10k bitcoin maybe!) but instead i’ll activate that 20% creativity ruleset today.

looking at the machine i’ve already used twenty minutes or so writing this post, i’ve watched people come and go, money loaded into machines to keep the big cylinders of doom revolving pumping water and heat in their respective uses, i’m hearing the servos of tried and tested machinery that’s been running for over thirty years — they don’t build them like they used too, i’d love to watch a documentary on the life of the electrolux people, this machine is called a WASCATOR! — sounds like some kind of modern day sentry guard running on some modern day AI.

having a yellow post it note in the form of a blog is a great way to push out those revolving thought processes that just keep looping over until you give them an audience front and centre. the problem with that is that they can often get in the way of doing general life — blogging for me is way passed fitting in to the audience out there but more to the audience relating to you with your writings, why you write, your motivations.

now i’ve had my wanderlust moment i can go into town and step through those analog mind steps for the few tasks and chores i have to complete - pay some more of the valentines meal, grab a new step for the caravan, have a lovely lunch and consume a few beers at the pub on the way outta town, back early before five o’clock rolls around and the masses leave work in that chaos tail to tail game of pumping out exhaust fumes into the environment.

i can tell i’m getting closer to my birthday as i always feel like this a day before my birthday, reflective mood, checking in with myself like my own personal doctor, calibrating, putting things into boxes instead of just going with the flow. Yep, tomorrow i will be forty five, i will have walked this earth for forty five years, they say it’s only an age but it’s a mystery to me how it all stacks up, i’m blessed to have had the experiences and people in my life so far and i look forward to i hope another block of years ahead.

i’m glad to be sharing my birthday with @dayleeo this year, i’m glad she is her for her birthday too, having big blocks apart was difficult on us and we have rocky times ahead when it comes to the visa forms and documentation we need to have, funds, resources to be able to see each other as easily as we have for the last few years — i expect it will be a lot of more regular flying back and forth for me in the latter part of this year, maybe some of that distance will give me another clarity or at least, another places where i can spend my time in a silver capsule in the sky writing to you guys ;)
