Assange gets Ecuadorian citizenship

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange got Ecuadorian citizenship, leaked millions of secret documents. Ecuadorian Foreign Minister on Thursday said this.

NBC reported that Assange was in Ecuadorian embassy in London for more than five years. He has been staying at the embassy in Ecuador's political asylum to avoid arrest. Ecuador recently requested London to give him diplomatic status. Ecuador has given citizenship to London for denial of Assange

Australian-born Assange stormed the US government's many secretive documents leaked to WikiLeaks. A few days later, there was a rape case against him in Sweden. The UK government was going to hand him over to Sweden for trial in that case. But Assange took refuge in Ecuadorian embassy in London last evening. Assange and his well-wishers had feared that if sent back to Sweden, he would be sent there to the United States and sentenced to be sentenced for leaking of documents.

In Sweden, the case has been withdrawn against Assange. A warrant has been issued against him for violating bail conditions in London, police said. British police will be able to arrest him after leaving the embassy. That is why Assange is there.
