Be ready to change your plans and perspectives

in #life2 years ago

What happens when you take an idea you were passionate about, a plan you believed in and invested in, but then decide its time to go and start something else? If you have done something that you regret before, you know the pain I am talking about.

You want to keep going, but you know you can't change your mind. You don't want to be the one in the crowd saying "I'm so glad I did it".

I think one of the reasons why we keep investing in something and then getting disenchanted by it, is because we are so busy trying to "fix" our current problem that we don't see what's really going on.

We fail to take the perspective that we were the right person for the job, and we should let go of the guilt of making this decision now instead of later. The longer we keep ourselves tied up in knots, the more likely it will seem like a good idea.

This is a hard one to deal with because you don't want to feel like you are giving up on yourself, and you are the only one holding yourself back. It is very important that you are able to let go of the guilt.

What I have noticed, though, is that after you stop being so obsessed with the plan you have in place, you can look at the problem with a new mindset.

STEP 1: Have a Plan of Action

First, find out what you want to be doing. This could be a complete shift in career or something as simple as a change in business model.

Whatever you choose, you need a plan of action. You need to understand why you are doing it and what the end goal is. For example, why are you working full time on this idea now, if you want to quit your day job? What is your vision for where you want your business to be in 6 months?

STEP 2: Find an Advocate

The best way to overcome your indecision is to have someone on your side who will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Find someone you trust, and tell them your ideas. They will be able to tell you whether they are good, bad or somewhere in between. They will also help you with your plan of action.

Find out what you are afraid of and get advice on how you can work through it. If you are scared to quit your day job, then talk to someone you trust who is also worried about leaving their job. Ask them to advise you on how they got started, and if they feel the same way you do now.

STEP 3: Have Realistic Expectations

Finally, you need to take a step back and remind yourself that even the best-laid plans have unexpected twists. You need to set realistic expectations. This means that you need to be okay with the fact that what you are doing isn't the right solution for everyone.

It also means that you need to be okay with failure, because there are always going to be situations when your idea won
