Big Spring - Geography and Details
The Bigar Spring (also known as Bigar Izbucul) is a protected area of national interest that corresponds to IUCN category IV (mixed nature reserve), located in Caraş-Severin County, on the administrative territory of Bozovici commune.
The natural reserve was established in 1982 and declared a protected area by Law no. 5 of March 6, 2000 published in the Official Gazette of Romania Nr. 152 of April 12, 2000 (regarding the approval of the National Territory Planning Plan - Section III - Protected Areas). The natural area covers an area of 176.60 hectares [4] and is included in the National Park Cheile Nerei - Beusnita.
The reserve is a hilly area with springs, gorges, limestone, valleys, valleys, valleys, dives, caves, avenues, meadows and meadows; with a fauna composed of mammals (brown bear, laughter, wolf, fox), birds, reptiles, frogs and fish; and a flora (common walnut, Turkish hazel, thorn, Banat peony) specific mountain groups of the Banat Mountains.
The Bigar outbreak is a powerful spring (hence the word burst), fueled by a course across the Stubbs that crosses the cave of the same name from the Anina Mountains.
After about 200 meters, the spring water (rich in limestone) flows into the Minis River from a rocky threshold, forming a cascade of limestone bushes, called the Bigar Waterfall.
The World Geography website compiled in 2013 a list of the most impressive waterfalls in the world. The first place is the Bigar Waterfall from Caras-Severin.
Previously, in September 2010, an international travel guide, National Geographic Traveler - Romania, was the first to present this waterfall in the specialized tourist press.
