Welcome to the second part of this series of some of the greatest discoveries.

Discovery is the act of detecting something new, or something "old" that had been unrecognized as meaningful. With reference to sciences and academic disciplines, discovery is the observation of new phenomena, new actions, or new events and providing new reasoning to explain the knowledge gathered through such observations with previously acquired knowledge from abstract thought and everyday experiences. A discovery may sometimes be based on earlier discoveries, collaborations, or ideas. Some discoveries represent a radical breakthrough in knowledge or technology.

The discoveries started when man set foot on this planet earth and with time we have witnessed a huge number of discoveries till date that have had an impact on our lives.
If it were not for some of the important discoveries we would have been lagging far behind.

Let's take a look at some of the greatest discoveries :

Agriculture

Agriculture was one of the most important discoveries that changed the way humans used to live.
The discovery of agriculture dates back to neolithic age.
Before the discovery of agriculture people were nomads and travelled from one place to another in search of food.
They couldn't stay at one place for longer times because they eventually would have starved to death.
The discovery of agriculture meant that people were able to stay at one as they were able to produce food throughout the year.

Wine

The wine is believed to have been discovered over 9000 years ago in China.
However it is believed that humans fermented some type of fruits earlier over 100000 years ago.
Wine was extracted from the fermentation if grapes.
With time wine became more popular and was consumed all over the world.
Wine is forbidden in some religions, however it goes down as one of the greatest discoveries because of its huge usage.

Blood circulation

English physician William Harvey who was born1578 discovered the blood circulation 1628.
It was indeed one of the most important discoveries in the field of medical science.
He explained the circulation and how the heart pumps blood to other parts of the body.
He was also able to explain that the four chambers of heart permitted the blood flow in one direction only.

Chocolate

Chocolate was discovered more than 4000 years ago in America's tropical rainforest of Amazon basin.
Chocolate was extracted from the cocoa trees.
The value of chocolate as an ingredient and as a special chocolate drink was discovered by Maya Indians and Aztecs.
Christopher Columbus brought cocoa beans to Europe from his fourth visit to the new world.

The Spanish Don Hernan first realised the commercial value to cocoa beans and brought cocoa beans to Spain and eventually the custom of drinking chocolate spread around whole Europe.
