Funny how what's supposed to be the most beautiful feeling in life, turns out to make us a complete cynic when it goes wrong. The amount of energy it takes to gain back the same belief, not easy my friend. Not easy.

Unfortunately, you could destroy someone's perspective on love in so many other ways. And the thing is that most of us come with a wrong idea about love and relationships from our very own families; and we may carry that distorted image throughout our lives if we don't come across someone who is willing to change that for us - and if, of course, we allow them to proceed and we make an effort as well. Psychologically speaking, this is the well known and validated attachment theory - the way we relate to others is nothing else but the way our parents (or the ones who brought us up) did when we were children. Mix this with some unhealthy relationships with partners who have their own issues and voilà! And then we wonder "why love hurts so much"
