Your plan works well for you and I commend you for it. That plan might not work well for a parent who is not willing to invest the time, energy, and self control that is needed for that style of parenting to work.
The sad part is those type parents are probably parenting like their parents did when they were being raised. The cycle can't be broken if it keeps getting repeated.
