Janice Joplin - the immortal symbol of the freedom-loving 1960s era
The name of Janis Joplin is invariably associated with the freedom-loving 1960s. She was the first American rock singer who defied the moral foundations of that time. Janice literally dissolved in the music she performed. Despite her short life, this incredible singer has always remained a symbol of the era.
Janis Joplin was born in 1943 in Port Arthur (Texas, USA) in a prosperous family. Despite the fact that his father worked in a cannery, classical music was always heard in the house. On weekends, her mother sang at various charity concerts, taking her daughter with her. At first little Janice caused all the emotions and delight, she was a sociable and smiling girl.
As he grew older, Janice's appearance began to change not for the better: acne, expressionless face, excess weight. Classmates did not miss the opportunity to release taunts in her address. Once a smiling Janice had withdrawn, but it did not mean that she was quieter than water and below the grass. On the contrary, the hatred of schoolchildren tempered her character, the girl began to protest.
Entering the University of Lamar in 1960, Janice immediately became a local celebrity. The girl came to classes in jeans, barefoot and with a zither, and this shocked the public at that time. At the same time, Janice was in a semi-underground circle, where young people were interested in blues, folk. In the local student newspaper about Janis Joplin came out an angry article under the heading: "How does she dare to be unlike?"
Communicating with informals, Janis Joplin began to travel around the states, having fun in nightclubs and drinking alcohol. It was in such places that the girl heard the real blues that conquered her. Gradually Janice began to sing. Parents did not like the free behavior of their daughter, in protest they left the house. Interrupted by casual earnings, Janice went to California.
In San Francisco, Chet Helms, the producer of the Big Brother And The Holding Company, remarked to the non-standard girl with a sonorous voice and invited her to join the team. The new album with the new vocalist immediately brought the group to a new level. In 1967, the whole of America began to talk about Janis Joplin. Bathed in the rays of glory, the singer realized that the inexpressive appearance - not the main thing. Temperament, charisma, literally, magnet dragged fans to her.
Among the lovers of Janice were such famous musicians as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Chris Kristofferson. A loving singer had relations with women.
After a while, Janis Joplin throws the band at the peak of popularity and creates another, wanting to develop in a creative way. So freely and untied to keep herself on the stage, as did Janice, did not allow himself at that time still no one of the performers. Her speeches were called not just expressive, but also aggressive. This behavior was also stimulated by regular drug use.
Gradually Janis Joplin became tired of the image of the eccentric blues singer. She wanted to perform other music, but the public demanded from her the same drive as before. I had to comply, and after the next dose everything seemed to "fall into place."
The final of the bright, but short life of the singer was quite natural. On October 4, 1970, Janis Joplin was about to take another dose of drugs, but her dealer was not in town. Then she bought the drug from the first trafficker, the substance was stronger than usual. Janice Joplin died of an overdose at the age of 27.
