Enter the rush room...

I'm getting goosebumps and chills down my spine just planning on writing this post. This is Africa, there is no other continent like it. Diverse in races, places, and faces. This is where it all starts, happens and never stops. The Garden Route of South Africa. The legendary East Coast, the sunny side of South Africa. Beaches, forests, rivers, wild life and extreme sports are what we're all about. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Today we find ourselves in the Tsitsikamma at the epic Bloukrans bungy bridge 216m of adrenalin pumping free fall. This is the closest you will come to the feeling an eagle or bird of prey gets when it swoops down to snatch up its prey. After you jump, you want to fight it but then it's all too late, spread your wings and fly...

The Bloukrans bridge was and still is the world highest bungy bridge. From leaving wherever you started from that morning the excitement only keeps building. As you pull in the parking-lot nerves start rattling and a strange feeling creeps under your skin.Soon you realize the feeling you're feeling is the feeling of being alive. Off to the registration desk and time to weigh in so that you jump with the right strength cord. The blood now pumping through your veins. Time to suit up and get your harness on. Resembling some sort of lingerie. Now you wait for a nice group to build up before you make your way across the bridge for your jump. The catwalk under the bridge is super scary to cross, a steel mesh walkway with the forest floor 600 odd meters below. Finally, you arrive at the impact zone. Here they have some good music pumping through the speakers so you can psych yourself up! If you are not the first to jump, well you guessed it. Nerves go crazy, the blood now coursing through your veins faster and faster with each blood-curdling scream the jumper ahead of you crunches out.

Finally it's your turn as they call out your name and your legs go numb. Stepping up to the plate it all still feels very much unreal. Check your pockets, tighten your shoes and have a seat. The guides now strapping you in, one safety check after the other. The jump-master instructs you to get up, they help you right to the edge. You can now see everything from this view point. The count down starts. 3, 2, 1 BUNGY!!! For a moment everything slows down to a freeze-frame animation kind of thing. One second later and you start accelerating at a warp speed pace, you can't scream because you lost your voice now feeling so exhilarated nothing can stop you! And what feels like one more second you're now in the zone enjoying every second. As you start reaching the maximum stretch of your cord you now start stressing is this cord going to hold up?

YES, it does and you come to a stand still feeling all relieved, you let out a sigh. And all of a sudden back up you go roughly 165m at a frightful pace, till you stop again in mid air. And that's it, you have now become a human ding bat. Up and down and up and down till you eventually come to a slowish bouncing motion suspended about 400m above the surface of the Earth. Looking up a small spec is now descending down towards you. To take you back up to solid ground, or in this case concrete. As the guide gets down to you, he starts lifting you upright. Taking you back to the top, in this moment you feel like a GOD! As you land at the top very confused and super pumped, they stick a microphone in your face and ask you how it was and how you're feeling. At this point, the most profound feelings flow from out your soul as you're still very, very crazy-like. I have to warn you, you will have a permanent grin on your face for the next week or two that you just can't get rid of. Now shaking you start making your way back to collect your photos and a DVD of your most memorable jump. Then down to the bar for an ice cold one to settle the nerves. All I can say is what a rush!!!

When you land here in Cape Town and you're in need of some sound advice drop me a mail, I'm always ready to help. See you soon :)

Peace be the journey

I have done the Soweto Towers bungy, but i doubt that it can compare!!

That sounds epic. I'm looking forward to the Moses Mabhida Stadium one day. The ground rush will just bring a whole new level to it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Welcome to Steemit ;)
