Working with Special People on a Farm
In the Netherlands we call that, "people with a limitation". I love much more the way it is spoken in English, "people with special needs".
I accompany, 4 days a week, people with special needs on a care-farm in the Netherland, as some of you may have know already. It is a dairy farm with 130 dairy cows and many young animals.
Almost every time I go to work, I'm enthusiastic, I feel happy and look forward to meeting the people who come to work that day.
I have a different kind of relationship with each client but most of the time I'm funny and adrem. I taught myself to respond spontaneously and feel good at work.
In my view, it's important to be authentic, to be who you are. The people I work with are that too. Most people with special needs can not act and simulate feelings as we can.
What do we do all day?
Most of the activities run around the cows and calves, we clean the stable, care for the calves, clean the tools and the yard. This all happens under guidance because the people who come to us need help in these tasks. Additionally, creative things are done, we cook soup and pastries and other animals are taken care of.
These fun things are made at the care farm where I work.
Because of the privacy, I can not show clients on the photos.

what a neat job. the specials are so open hearted and trusting. To fill their day in working with animals must be one of the best therapies there is.
You must also get a lot of laughs as well.
It's fun and omnifarious work :-)
