The foundation was laid in 2011 by the first cryptocurrency faucet developed by Gavin Andresen. His intention then was to introduce new users to the first digital currency bitcoin. Soon developers of website realized that they could drive traffic to their sites by providing a faucet for bitcoin first and later for other new cryptocurrencies.

While in the past a user could only get digital currency from the faucet at certain time intervals such as days or hours, nowadays there is a new type of faucets available.

Moondoge is an example of these new type of faucets.

Visitors can claim anytime they want given that the last claim was at least 5 minutes ago. And here is where the fairy tale of earning 24/7 and while you sleep comes into reality. The faucet will increase constantly the amount to claim based on the time passed of the user’s last visit. This is shown in the two images below.

There are a number of these new types of faucets. You can run them in parallel and thus have several 24/7 income faucets.

How to setup the faucet?

You need a so called wallet address for the specific coin the faucet will provide. A mining site like eobot for example offers free wallets for different crypto currencies.

While eobot is a good place for a crypto currency wallet I would not recommend to use the exchange. The fee is 5% if you trade from one cryptocurrency into another.
If you want to exchange your crypto currencies for example into Steem I would recommend an exchange platform like Poloniex. The fee is 0.25% instead.

Below the different wallets you will find several functions to select from.
Choose Deposit and the Wallet Address for each of the coins will be shown. Sometimes you need to click on the word Generate in order to get the address displayed. Copy the address of your coin and sign up with it at the 24/7 faucet. In my example I copied the dodge address in order to sign up for the moondodge faucet below.

This is all what you need to do. The wallet address is enough, no email or name is required for the sign in.

How to claim?

Every five minutes you can make a claim by clicking on the claim now button.

The button will show once the minimum time between claims have passed. A popup will appear.

Tick the box on the left side next to the I’m not a robot.
A so called Captcha(Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) will show.

It will ask you to select the images related to a certain topic. Once you have selected the correct pictures you need to click the VERIFY button.

A green check mark indicates you are not a robot (what a surprise :-) ).
Once you click on the submit button your claim is processed and added to your account.

Claim Amount

The claim amount can vary depending on different bonuses.

Not only do you get the Claim amount. Additionally, you can receive a Mystery bonus of up to 100%. What the mystery bonus is based on is as the name says a mystery.
The faucet also rewards your loyalty by adding 1% each day you pass by. If you miss a day this bonus is set back to zero. You must start all over again.
Further can you receive a referral bonus If you can get someone new to use the faucet.

The amount to claim also depends on the time since the last claim. The increase will slow the longer you wait between claims.

The highest results for the claimed amount of course are achieved if claims are only 5 minutes apart. But as described above a mystery bonus is added and therefore the total amount can vary.

Every day you return to the faucet a 1% loyalty bonus is added until the maximum loyalty bonus of 100% is reached. So, each day you earn more.

When do you receive the payout?

Every Sunday the collected amount will be credited to your dodgecoin wallet. The payout is only done when the threshold of 100 dodge is reached.

These faucets make money with displaying advertising. Be aware that the advertisers on these sites often offer ponzi type businesses.

What about security?

I personally would not visit these faucets if you do not have a virus scanner and online virus protection program installed and activated on your device.

Are there similar faucets?

Yes there are a few. Most of them are for bitcoins. You can use all these faucets in parallel without problem.
Below is an overview of these faucets.

Moon Litecoin and Moon Bitcoin

Besides Moon Dodge, there is Moon Litecoin and Moon Bitcoin. They have the exact same functionality as described above.
From all three faucets Moon Bitcoin is the best paying.

Fieldbitcoin

Fieldbitcoin is very similar to the moon faucets site.

Payout is weekly and based on a threshold of 10 000 Satoshi (equal to 0.0001 Bitcoin). Satoshi is the smallest unit of a Bitcoin. Satoshis are also used to value all other crypto currencies.
For example 1 Steem has the value of around 19 000 Satoshis today.

Just enter the address of your bitcoin wallet to sign in. You can use the one at eobot for example or the one at steemit. If you use your bitcoin wallet address on steemit all the bitcoins you receive will be exchanged to steem.

As well you must proof you are a human.

Additionally, you must provide an email address above the Captcha to access the faucet and later confirm it once you receive the email from Field Bitcoins.

Even though the faucet looks very like the moon faucets above there are some differences.
There is no mystery bonus, only a loyalty and referral bonus.

If you come back after more than 60 minutes you must provide your bitcoin wallet address to log in. This also means to fill out
a Captcha again and then another one to make your claim. The Captchas are also different. They expect you to enter text versus clicking on images as for the moon faucets.

After 5 Minutes around 33 Satoshis can be claimed.

A daily loyalty bonus is added. The bonus can go up to 100% max.

ChronoX shares the same principles as the above faucets.

Faucet Go has a launching bonus, a referral and a consecutive login bonus. It is very user-friendly.
There is no more automatic withdrawal. You need to initiate it once a threshold of 20 000 Satoshi is reached.

To withdraw you need to have a Google+ account to identify yourself.

Conclusion

Our attention has a value and as we are moving forward into the attention economy this value might increase over time due to the intense competition and
the new ways the blockchain offers to assign and track micro rewards.

Would it make enough money to live of it? Not yet. This is still rather a fairy tale. This would require some more time to turn it into reality.

Of course, there are many more faucets. These faucets have a slightly different model. Some reward you only once per day, others already after 5 minutes.
The big difference is that they would never increase the amount depending on the time passed since your last claim. It is always a fixed amount. This way it is not the
24/7 continuous income like the above faucets provide.
