''You Have To Keep Breaking Your Heart Until It Opens. ''
''You have within you more love than you could ever understand. '' -Rumi
Rumi’s quotes touch my soul in ways I can’t even put in words.
''You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens'' holds a very special meaning to me.
It makes me think of when Ram Dass was saying that after a terrible heartbreak that happened in his life, he came to a very painful but deep realization that ''love and the object of love aren’t necessarily the same thing''.
And so, he found the way to still feel love within himself, and carry it around, while having his heart wide open.
There was a time during which I thought I attained such a state or whatever you want to call it, but I must say that it is not the case anymore.
Not that wise yet 😉
Living mindfully is a discipline.
But one which made me find new lenses I had deep within myself.
I realized that I could make the choice to see life through new eyes.
Each day, my heart chooses on what I meditate.
Whether that is to heal my inner child, to do a loving kindness meditation, to focus on my breathing, etc.
Every day is a new adventure, an adventure to get a bit closer to myself.
To give myself a little more love than yesterday.
The world suffering comes from the Latin root ''suffere'' , which means what is ready to be ''carried or supported''.
In such a way, you can observe that as human beings, we have an innate tendency to create additional suffering to the initial cause of our suffering.
There’s no escaping it, suffering is universal, and everyone suffers through life.
That is something I try to keep in mind when going through intense periods of suffering.
That there are millions of other human beings out there, that just like me, are experiencing pain.
And while our own lives are unique, some of them are experiencing the same kind of pain as I do.
I think that the most important discovery I have found through my self-purification journey, is that there is another way to be in relationship with our suffering.
A way that can lead us through liberation.
I don’t know how I will get there.
But as of now in my life, I have been working extremely hard to cultivate a very different kind of relationship with my pain.
I use without a doubt meditation and other kind of healing tools, but the most important part is that I stay in touch with each layer of my pain.
And sometimes, it gets very intense.
But I do not engage in self-destructive coping behaviors.
I force myself to not numb each fiber of my pain.
I welcome it with all I have.
As much as sometimes I don’t want to believe it, I remember that one day, I will look back, and the pain I feel now will be a small portion of the story of my life journey.
As excruciating as it may feel, I know that one day, I won’t identify with the story as much as I do now.
And while some kind of pain or tragedies may never fully go away, their power diminishes over time.
I know that as each day will go by, I will be one step closer to step into the light.
Such pretty words…
But I have yet to find the way to believe them completely.
Leaving you on a view I’d die to have right now…!💚 💫 🌄

Sab
