Loving my Hometown: Alburquerque Bohol

This is the Santa Monica Parish Church of Alburquerque Bohol .It was built in 1885 and this church is already 120 years old!

This is the Facade of Alburquerque Church and we call it in our language as Convento. This convent is the arcade like a footbrige that connects from the church going to the main building.

Walking through this facade is a perfect view facing toward the town plaza and you can see also the perfect view of the Municipality of Alburquerque.

This is the interior image of the Church. Although this was partially damaged when the 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Bohol last October 15, 2013' It was renovated by the help of the town folks .

During my time, this place was very dark and looked so scary because our folks told us that it used to be the prison area during the Spanish regime. Although I don't know the real history of the place, It used to be our playground. We used to play hide and seek in this area. Now though, they renovated the place and made it the Prayer Room.

This is the Grotto. The statue of Santa Monica, San Agustin. This is located at the back of the courtyard hides ruin, presumably another unfinish arcade.

Finally this is the Municipality of Alburquerque Bohol. Alburqurque was once part of Baclayon called Segunto. When it became an independent municipality though, It's name was changed from Segundo to Alburquerque. It was named after a city in New Mexico.
