History of Barbers Pole
We can confront these bizarre device in most of the movies and series which is telling a story about old America , but what is the use of this device called Barber's Pole lets make a quick glance to its historical background.
Story
Barber's pole is related to the blood-taking service, because the barbers were also performing operations in the middle ages and the top side of barbers pole is representing something , the bottom side was representing other thing and the pole itself was representing the patient.
The red and white strips were representing the bandage amount used during the process , white means clean and red means bandage covered with blood and they were hanging these bandages on to these ropes and they dry the bandages while it is turning its around with the wind.
Well during the time it changed shape to what it is using for now , the bandages changed places with painted wood and barbers continued to use it in a symbolic way.Except the European versions , American version got blue color inside in order to symbolize the blue in the American Flag.
Never thought that the barber pole holds a so noble and significant symbol of ... life. Giving blood is a way to help the others at need, and while this may be when something dear has a problem or just do it at any time just to give something for the hearth I think is a kind gesture that doesn't cost us anything. It is good that we discover in the old things symbols that I hope we still want to follow and achieve today.

Yep! People thought that all illnesses reside in the blood, so doctors would literally make people bleed to help solve what was wrong with them... glad this practice isn't still happening.
