Dealing with difficult coworker!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Yes difficult people do exist at work. Also it is up to us to solve the problem if it is just a sudden change in behaviour.

Your situation won’t get better leaving it unaddressed, it usually gets worse.
It is just like having a bad headache or flu without getting a medication.
Make sure that you aren't fooling yourself to avoid conflict, but cases do exist when you can avoid the difficult person and minimize their impact on your work life.

In my opinion It is most probably due to the work load given by the management. Some people just couldn't handle the work and getting the anger on to a colleague just to make sure that they will also be having a hard time like them.

Complaining about the coworker or situation can quickly earn you the title of whiner or complainer. Managers wonder why you are unable to solve your own problems—even if the manager’s tolerance or encouragement of the situation is part of the problem.
I believe that we have to check ourself what is our own problem. If we are sure it has nothing to do with us then it should be that particular person which we are always missed out.
Occasionally, at this point in your relationship with a difficult person, you can back off and say nothing good will come from my confronting this difficult person's behavior. Make sure that you aren't fooling yourself to avoid conflict, but cases do exist when you can avoid the difficult person and minimize their impact on your work life. But, it depends on your individual circumstances.

Also we need to know that the closest colleague behaviour. I am not trying to say that it is them or others. But it maybe a slip of tongue and caused the conflict.

Approaching the person with whom you are having the difficult. In private and when communicating please only tate that what did you done wrongly that may have cause the difficult. Instead of approaching others this is the best way to solve the impact.

If all methods use in between both you and the diffucult person. The last resort will be getting a management to involve. But do treat this you may not want to end up getting this seriously big issue.

But lastly i would also like to stress out my voice isn't it we are only working to get paid and seriously nothing is more important to get the work done than hating each other.
Human is and forever not perfect try to get over it if it is seriously not impacting you mentally. Cause most of the time it is a slip of tongue that causes the misunderstanding.

Sort:

"I'm just here to work.. not socialize or make friends."

Is a great way to keep things simple.

You do have a point there. But i believe a company will strive is mostly of team work not work alone. Well it do depend on what job or position we are in.

Teamwork.. no problem. Stick to the task. No reason to share personal information.

I've had 15 minutes to think about this... I believe now that I am a difficult co-worker.

Thanks for helping me see this. I will make a change for better.

This needs to be required reading at my job

You do not have to be best friends but if you are required to work together you can put aside your differences and look at the bigger picture. Talk to them privately if required and figure out why they don't like you, you don't have to change yourself but at least understand where they are coming from. Thanks for the thought-provoking and interesting content.

Correct. Friends is for after office hours we tend to think that work and private are to mix together.

I think that conflict is inevitable in any social structure. The way I personally deal with conflicts is trying out "Shou ga nai (仕様が無い)<----hopefully the right kanji 0_0....Kanji is really difficult for myself as well as speaking. This is what I will work on the most while studying abroad in Japan. Going back to the Shou ga nai concept, basically, you try to remain neutral and see from both perspectives. Also, it's the concept of "it can't be helped." Since I have incorporated that mindset/focus into my life, I have dealt with conflict much better.

Yes, it can't be helped. But i think the bes way around is try to be 'forget and let go'
