Best day of my life

Hi everyone, by now you know that Djurgårdens IF is my passion and my biggest love. I will tell you the story about the best day of my life, when Djurgårdens IF got promoted back to Swedish Hockey League, the top tier of Swedish ice hockey.

2011-12

Djurgårdens IF is the most successful ice hockey club with our 16 SM-gold titles, actually we're the most successful sports club in Sweden with our (numbers from March, 2016) 437 SM-gold titles in all sports.
The last time we were in the second tier division of Swedish hockey was back in 1977, 35 years before this part of the story.

Sillyseason before 2011-2012 was really good, we thought we had A GREAT team, our stab said that the defense was TOO good etc. We had players that played in the finals with us a few years back etc, it all looked great. It didn't turn out very well.
We had to play qualification matches, in Sweden there was something called "Kvalserien" where 6 teams (4 teams from HockeyAllsvenskan and 2 teams from SHL) played against each other two times, home and away. The two top teams after 10 games played would qualify for SHL.
We didn't make it, we were out of SHL for the first time in 35 years. This was one of the worst days in my life.

2012-13

In 2012-2013 we played in HockeyAllsvenskan, we tried to get players that would get us back to SHL after this year. We had players like Fredrik Bremberg, Kristofer Ottoson, Jimmie Ölvestad which all were good SHL-players, because of the NHL-lock out we got players like Patrick Hörnqvist, Gabriel Landeskog and Douglas Murray.
This was a flop, we didn't get to Kvalserien even. Next year was the "building up for one or two-years"-year, 2013-14.

2013-14

The season started out very, very badly. We didn't play well at all and nothing worked out. We didn't have our star players and we had to kick our coach to get in Hans "Säcken" Särkijärvi which was our old coach from a few years back. He turned the ship around, with a few rounds left of HockeyAllsvenskan we were getting closer and closer to get to Kvalserien. Finally, we got there. Would we be able to do this? Would we get back to SHL?

In Kvalserien was Djurgårdens IF, Örebro HK, Rögle BK, Malmö Redhawks, VIK Västerås and aik.
Aik is another Stockholms club, another club founded 1891 and the worst kind of people there is, every Djurgårdare hates them and every aikare hates Djurgården.
The first game we played in Kvalserien was against aik, away. There would only be aik-supporters there (security reasons) since Stockholm Globe was occupied. We lost.
After 5 out of 10 rounds of Kvalserien, we had 6 points. 6 out of 15 possible. This was not good, we wouldn't get back this year. Crap.
In the 5th game we were up against aik at home. This is how it looked at Hovet:

We won that game, before that game we had 3 points.
That game was when it turned around, we won 2 in a row after that. After 7 games we had 12 points, we had the chance again.
We lost the 8th round. We won the 9th round.
If we win the 10th and final round with 4 goals and aik doesn't lose big against Rögle, we would be back in SHL.
We won against Västerås with 6-2, an insane game really.

There's a video below where you can see the goals and the celebrations, EVERYONE in the arena pitched the ice. The feeling when we won with 4 goals and heard that aik didn't let Rögle win big was amazing.
So many tears were shed, from players and supporters. It's beautiful how sports can affect people like this, truly amazing.
