Djurgårdens 125th Anniversary game

As the last game of 2016 we had the 125th anniversary of Djurgårdens IF, founded in 1891.
To honor the day the players played in a retro jersey with influence from the late 50's and early 60's when Djurgården won 6 SM-gold medals (1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963) and Lasse Björn, who is Grandfather of the former NHL-player Douglas Murray, was the first person ever to get into Djurgårdens Hall of Fame.
Lasse Björn IS Djurgården. With 9 SM-gold medals in 14 years and that he never showed himself weak, he's a legend.
He was like Douglas Murray was, but 50-60 years earlier. He was one of the toughest players in Sweden, if not even Europe and the world.

Here's a picture of Lasse Björn, 85 years old, in a Djurgården Jersey.

Here's a picture of Djurgården in the retro jerseys after the game.

The arena, the opponents and the feeling before the game

As you can read here, Djurgården can choose between playing at Globen or Hovet. This game was in Globen, with 13189 attendants is so far the game this season in SHL with highest attendance.
Frölunda won SM-gold last season and are the defending champions, they beat us in the Quarter Finals last season.
I thought we'd lose this game big, Frölunda is a much better team even when we play good.

First period

The fans were doing good, the volume when everyone sang was rather high but it could be much better.
The players were playing really good and about 8 minutes into the game we were up with 1-0, scored by our junior line.
A few minutes later, Frölunda tied it up, 1-1.

Second period

We started the period good, really good. We almost scored one, two and three times. After 8 minutes into the second period we got a power play (one out of two during the whole game), 1 minute into the power play we scored, 2-1.
We kept playing really well and we scored 3-1. This was unreal, how could we play this good after not being able to beat one of the currently, worsts teams in the last game?
Fifteen seconds later, Markus Ljungh scored, he fought in a loose puck that the goalie missed. Somehow the refs thought it was a good idea to give him a penalty instead of a goal, without slashing the goalie he got a 2min penalty for slashing. Still 3-1 on the scoreboard and Frölunda got a way into the game. You can check the highlights if you wanna see the sequence!

Third period

We had lost all momentum but we stood up well the first five minutes, then Frölunda scored. 3-2 advantage for Djurgården still though. Right after that, we get a penalty, 2 minutes hooking for something that wasn't really a hooking. The players fought well and killed off all four box plays we've had this far.
With 1 minute and 40 seconds left and 3-2 on the scoreboard, Frölunda pulled the goalie. They were really close scoring over and over again, then with 20 seconds left Djurgården did something stupid - too many players on the ice. 6v4 in 22 seconds now, face off in Djurgårdens zone. They fought and fought and finally got the puck out with 10 seconds left, Frölunda attacked once more but Mikael Tellqvist did a really important save!

Djurgårdens won with 3-2 versus the defending champions, what a relief. We really needed these 3 points.
If Djurgården keeps playing like this I think we could advance to the play offs later this spring.
