RE: The Most Important Battle In Life, Is The Battle Within

in #life7 years ago

Interesting perspective. Your observations are similar to that of Plato's, but differ in that your view stresses the duality (good vs. evil) rather than the tripartite soul. Perhaps, it is due to Christian influence? The assumed concept within your article is that the standard or reference for "good" or "evil" in emotions and thoughts are consistant across circumstances and culture.

I tend to prefer the tripartite model of the soul because of the aforementioned assumption regarding good and evil. The tripartite model of reason ruling over emotions that control our desires is also a popular construct. Freud shamelessly copied Plato with his "Superego, Ego, Id" model without giving credit where it is due. In the US, unlike Austria, the "Ego" is the central focal point. In the original Freudian analysis, the "Superego" was the central focus. It is interesting how differing cultures stress different part of the human soul.

Anyway, thank you for this interesting post. It gives me a lot to contemplate.

My views don't have any religious influence whatsoever. I am not even Christian. hehe! It's just the way I see things. That's all. We all have our own views towards life and that's ok :)
