Maiden Flight Of The "Falcon Heavy" - Elon Musk Shoots Tesla Into Space Tonight + Livestream

in #life6 years ago (edited)

The "Falcon Heavy" by SpaceX will be the strongest space rocket that is in use. Elon Musk has planned to fly humans to the Mars with this rocket but however, for her maiden flight he shipped a Tesla on board which is going to start tonight.

The US American SpaceX and Tesla chef Elon Musk wants to shoot a car into space this evening. The Tesla from Musk's private collection is said to be a cargo aboard the giant rocket "Falcon Heavy", which SpaceX wants to test from the Cape Canaveral spaceport in Florida. On her maiden flight, the rocket is supposed to start from the same launching pad as the moon mission "Apollo" and later the space shuttles of the US space agency Nasa.

The "Falcon Heavy" is currently the strongest rocket in the world at 70 meters. According to SpaceX, it can carry twice as much freight as the second largest rocket currently in use. The 64-tons rocket can also carry more than a fully fueled Boeing 737 with passengers, crew and luggage on board. However, both the US and the Soviet Union had larger raids deployed in earlier decades.

Three self-loading launcher

The "Falcon Heavy" consists of three launchers, two of which were already in use, according to SpaceX.
One brought the Thaicom 8 satellites into space in May 2016, and another was deployed in July 2016 for a supply flight to the International Space Station. On today's maiden flight is planned that the 3 launch vehicles will be separated from the Falcon Heavy after the start and return to the earth. Two of them are to land at Cape Canaveral, the third on a landing platform in the Atlantic Ocean.

Falcon Heavy should transport space-tourists to the moon and mars in the future. But so far the system is still in its early stage. Musk admitted it is quite possible that the maiden flight would go awry. Since the first launch of the named rocket was planned in 2013, Musk is now 5 years behind.

I am very exited what will happen tonight because it´s such a big project which has the potential to change our lives completely. People will have the chance to buy a one-way ticket to the Mars. My grandma once told me how she and her friends made fun about two people talking through a camera and see each other. She wouldn´t think in a million years that this could be possible. And now we are talking about a rocket that will transport people to a different planet...

The Falcon Heavy looks like the developers just welded three of the proven Falcon 9 rockets together. And indeed, three times more Merlin engines firing at launch to lift the 1.4 million kilogram monster skyward. What sounds like a simple multiplication involves new risks: The only carrier of space travel history with a good 30 engines was the Russian N1 lunar rocket, whose four launches almost 40 years ago ended in explosions. Because the developers underestimated the resulting vibrations of so many individually firing nozzles, they rocked themselves into the uncontrollable. According to Hansjörg Dittus, the problems were due to insufficient experience during the turbulent race to the moon. "Today we have much better control technology than 50 years ago, "says the physicist. "I think the SpaceX engineers can handle it."

I watched many of them livestream and like to see the burner coming back. Fun to see how much this technology involved.

Glad your interested in this topic. Very exiting what is going to happen today

I didnt know... missed it completely.... But Thanks, I will sure follow it from now on.

It´s going to start in a few hours. Very exiting

WOW!! just awesome Falcon Heavy! Best of luck for your project, hope it will be great. Cool pictures!!

Awesome content Thanks for sharing I wish you all the best
Keep it up
Tahnks

This was the highlight of my week for sure! What an amazing thing to witness. Elon is the man! Did you order your flamethrower? ;)

Imagine the freedom (and possible frustration) of freestyle dance without gravity.

Falcon Heavy could literally take @appics to the moon.

;-)
