This Kiev, baby! See how we celebrate the New Year!

I decided to digress a bit of traveling in Western Ukraine and tell you about the city in which I live. This is Kiev. Capital of Ukraine.

Soon the New Year and I want to tell you a little bit how this festival is celebrated in Ukraine, and in particular my family.

New Year we celebrate the night from December 31 to January 1. Christmas in January 7 and January 6 holy night. It was January 6 we wear the holy supper of our family and called it dinner - Kutya. December 19 we celebrate the day of St. Nicholas. On this day children give symbolic gifts, mostly sweets. And on the night of January 13 to January 14 we celebrate the Old New Year.

Holiday for children in the town of outlet "Manufacture". Everything is free. My kids participated in competitions and received many gifts.

Even my husband took part in the competition. It was funny.))

In early December, the city is decorated with garlands, in stores and malls put the Christmas tree, and Sophia Square give the country's main Christmas tree. Near the main trees are the main New Year celebration.

The main tree of the country officially lit on December 19 the day of St. Nicholas. This day is considered the beginning of the mass festivities in the city center.

So decorate the city.

In shopping centers and the main tree are a lot of activities. This is street food, and contests with gifts for children and concerts by famous artists, and free photo zone. My kids got a lot of gifts in the past year.

These activities lasted until the end of the holidays, to approximately the end of January.
