Peace be the journey
I've watched this movie, Cool Runnings so many times. It always makes me smile and some scenes make me laugh out loud, although I always shed some tears in the end. And even if the movie "gets it wrong", according to some critics (who listens to them, anyway), it's a remarkable story about 4 remarkable athletes (maybe Sanka wasn't really an athlete, but never mind, he was the best pushcart driver in all of Jamaica).
The evening of my dad's funeral, my brother, my sister and I went to see this movie. It was something to do, and something to take our minds off of our sadness, and to unwind a bit. It was the perfect movie for the occasion. And in the end, when the tears were streaming down my face, I didn't know whether it was because of my dad, or because of the movie. I suspect it was a bit of both. Anyway, it was a catharsis, and just what I needed.
Amid all the bad news on the radio and TV with regards to politics and crime and everything else in between, I'm also feeling very Olympic tonight, too. So let the fun begin.
good post
Thanks. Can't help it, so love this movie!
