Life advice from old guys ^>^

in #life5 years ago

This should make for a good base to read daily, along with a playlist to ponder the words as you distract yourself otherwise, maybe with drawing, writing, coloring or creating... As with everything I create, it's recycled versions of my interpretation of what was said.
The background to this post begins with Earl Nightingale's direct line 8 ( found here : https://archive.org/details/The_Direct_Line ) and Covey's 7 Habits of highly effective people... Along with a little sunscreen.

Borrowed from some version of rules for success, a portion of (Earl Nightingale, Direct Line 8)

Plan tomorrow before going to sleep, at least an outline, but down to as much detail as you feel comfortable going to sleep with.

Review the day. When taking those few moments to plan the next day, review what you did today. Into as much detail as you might want to remember later, just a few minutes, as much as you feel comfortable with.

Remain calm and focused, passion may make you want to get loud. But to what end? Remember your breathe and keep focused on your current task with a focus on peace and growth,..

Communicate clearly and neatly. Use your hands for this fine motor skills practice. Even if it's just folding origami or playing a video game for 45-75 minutes. Refine the skills. If you don't have fingers, or master those, move to toes ... Or maybe your nose.

Joke and laugh, enjoy your time, it's limited. We all die in this real life game. May as well enjoy the journey, stay soft and humble. There is always a tree larger than you, go in the woods and see. Or a star bigger, look to the sky and see. Always a bigger fish in the sea, just look. Or focus on another area while waiting on one of the others.

Defend people that can't defend themselves. We cant always be everywhere, give those that can't defend themselves, a chance to. With the cause and effects of how life plays out combined with the naturally occurring game of telephone or pass the message there is no need for winners and losers if we are working toward a common goal, to thrive as humans.

Through another's eyes. Try to see things from the opposite side of whatever may be going on. Be it from an opponents side of the board and what he may be doing. Or how a message may be being communicated, and verify that what you interpret as the message is the actual message.

When emotional about something, think about "how this situation will feel in a year? or what about 5?" Or something outside of the immediate situation at hand... Do a soft of mental assessment of is this situation of vital importance, apply the habits to work through.

Learn something expertly. If you have an interest in something, become an expert and play with the highest levels of achievement. Even if beginning with a top down exploration, some games have cheat codes built in to learn the possibility of unlimited power, form an opinion and then begin from the ground level after assessing the complexity of the end results needed.

7 Habits of highly effective people interpreted from the headlines.

Never quit, keep doing. Play a strategy that shows gains from losing, even if it's just what not to do, even if you're don't have the skills yet to accomplish the task, with practice, noting and making observations in the cause and effects, you will. Chess, magic the gathering, games that include decision making and loss.

How do you win the game? The end goal is to win, how do you plan that final blow on the "boss" or what's to be created to achieve completion of the goal or task at hand. And how will that be accomplished? What pieces need to be assembled to accomplish this? Learn the skills by quick research to get the skills needed to do the smallest tasks you have assembled for the current top down strategy.

Wax on, wax off. Begin with the basics, break it down. Plan. Builds directly off the last, dig deeper until it's to the most basic level,... Then learn those skills.

Even if you're losing, you are learning to win. Don't give up.

Read the manual, or at least glance at every page and ignore most of it. This is how you learn the skills to practice ober and over until natural and fun. Quickly glance over headlines and look at pictures and go from there.

Arrange the pieces by strengths and build your position on the board. Zoom in and out however you may feel necessarily needed to at least glance at every page. Building off strengths will by association build on weaknesses which can be built upon to complete tasks quickly and effectively with skill and enjoyment.

Stay active in interests that matter. Remember health in the form of food, drink, exercise, sleep. Focus on the task needed at the time. Biological needs first, these are the most basic, along with clean fresh air and how we consume it, watch your breathe.

And wear sunscreen

We are all fat. But not that fat. And not always physically,... Sometimes it's out ego, or attitude. Confidence is lacking awareness of your insecurities while lost in the flow of the moment, embrace it.
Build your community, they are your home base.
