The scientific perspective of meditation

Blood pressure - Meditation reduces hypertension. It not only controls high blood pressure; but also helps to prevent Angina or Heart Attack. In this context, American cardiologist Herbert Benson; coined relaxation response as a scientific term for meditation, and he used to stimulate relaxation of muscle and organs.

Cardiovascular Capacity - With the practice of meditation, the need of oxygen needs to decrease relative to the body. Therefore, the areas where oxygen is low, there may be more time for practicing meditation than normal people. Dr. B. K. Annand and Dr. G. S. Chinna published their revolutionary essay on meditation in the early 1960s. Later, many modern medical practitioners supported this information.

Respiratory Rate - The inhalation of respiration decreases considerably during meditation. Due to regular practice, this speed can be 4 to 5 times in a minute, which enhances the lubrication of the lungs and increases lung powers.
Cholesterol & blood sugar- To reduce blood cholesterol levels by regular meditation. Dr. Dean Ornish proved this to be true in 1990. Blood sugar also can be controlled through meditation.

Mental peace - The effects of meditation on the brain through electroencephalography are known, through this, there are some positive changes in the brain during meditation. Alpha waves are very effective at this time; that brings joyous feeling, emotional tranquility and body feel.

From this we can understand how effective the meditation is for our body.
