8 methods that help me reduce stress.
1 Make sure I sleep in time.
I know people that can go on with only 4 hours of sleep each night,
but I would not be able to do that. And I know that when I have not slept well
in a few days, I get sick way more easily than usual.
2 Mediation.
Meditation has helped me reduce some stress and calm my mind in certain situations.
It is not always the best method for me because I'm not too experienced in meditation
but it has definitely helped me out from time to time.
The meditation technique that I used the most, is a technique where you try to focus your mind on one thing, a sound, an object or a feeling and try to stay focused on that. Then when your mind drifts off or gets distracted, no worries. Just be aware of your mind drifting off and then regain your focus. I did find this method through a youtube video once, I might post it on here if I can still find it.
3 Massage,
I have always had lots of stomach problems. Having this continually has given me plenty of anxiety. For this reason, my doctor recommended me to go to a physical therapist where I would get a massage once a week, your body does relax during this which seemed to help me with stress.
4 Exercise,
After being sick for a long time, I lost a lot of weight and a lot of muscle.
So my physical therapist made me exercise as well. It really helped me build my muscle.
But also made me feel more confident in myself which reduced a lot of stress.
And being able to move a lot after being stuck in your bed for a long time is just
a great feeling overall.
5 Having more confidence in myself.
I used to be very insecure. I still am to a degree, this path is clearly unfinished for me.
But the more confidence I have in myself. The less I care about having to please other people.
And sacrifice my needs for others. It in a way reduces the stress caused by having to worry about disappointing others or worry about what they think of you.
6 Tai Chi
I don't know why. But these flowing exercises just make me feel good and more energetic at times. Yoga and breathing exercises can also be very useful.
7 Talk to friends.
I have been in situations where I was so worried about something, I could not get my mind off of it.
It helped me a great deal to talk about it with my friends to process what happened,
and to make it easier to let go of the situation or forget the situation.
8 Taking a walk,
One of the things that have helped me often in the past is taking a walk in nature.
Hearing birds sing in the background and breathing the fresh air feels so good to me.
I remember going camping with my friend once. We stayed on a camping for two weeks,
Walked in the forest every day, and played cards when getting back to our tent.
We had no computer and no phones and did not have to think about anything.
By the time our vacation came to an end I was
completely refreshed.
Hope this is in someway useful to you.
Have a great day
