Hottest Day Ever
Today as been the hottest day since the beginning of the meteorologic measurements in 1833 here in Belgium. I realize 40°C (104°F) might be pretty common for some of you, but it definitely isn't for us.
In general, Belgium has a temperate maritime climate and we're happy to see temperatures up to 27°C during summer. This heath is way out of our league!
It's basically too hot to do anything, going outside included.
We've been able to keep a lot of the heath out by taping aluminium-foil to the windows to reflect the sun, but still, it's smoking hot in here. I have done nothing but sleep all day. At the moment, It's 8pm, and I've only just put a foot outside, only to step into our inflatable swimming pool instantly, trying to get that body temperature down.
The poor chicken are really suffering from the heath, not to mention the plants. This afternoon, it looked like the plastic cover of my greenhouse was melting....
Code Red
For the first time in the history of our little country, a 'code red' has been called by the KMI, The Royal Meteorological Institute.
'Code Red' is nothing more than a warning and some tips that are being given out to keep people safe from the heath, trying to avoid dramas like we had in 2013, when an number of (older) people died because of, for example, dehydration.
Climate Change
According to research from the World Weather Attribution Network, this extreme heath is a direct result of the ongoing climate changes. We've been experiencing heat waves 5 summers in a row, which has never happened before.
Summer are getting hotter, winters are getting wetter, and if industrialized countries like our own don't manage to reduce greenhouse gas emissions fast and effective, this is only going to get worse.

I guess I'll do so tomorrow, lol. Beer? Check! Watermelon? Check! (Not sure if it's ripe already, but heck... I'll give it a try. Maybe soak it in a little vodka first, lol)

We are having our coldest summer ever in the upper midwest of North America.
the south east is supposed to drop into record cold in the next few days. the geomagnetic grid is weakening do to the pole shift going on. that and the lack of sunspots has brought wild weather to the world. a recent Princeton study showed that mans impact on the global temperature is about .3% check out the suspicious observers channel on youtube, their daily update is posted by @jang on steemit
Same here in the UK. The usual Summer temperature here is similar to yours. Today it was 31 Celsius tomorrow will be 35. I went to an open swimming pool today. I don't think I even want to leave the house tomorrow.

From what I've read it is all over Europe. We were stupid enough to plan aBBQ tomorrow. Fortunately the inflatable swimming pool and the garden hose will be nearby :0)
Those two things are vital in this heat. Yes it is all over Europe. Central Europe where I originally come from Hungary we don't have sea or ocean to cool our body down, but fortunately there are lakes and lidos to do that. :)

It was coldish south here near the border with Turkey. We live in a general mish-mash of weather so not easy identifying any effects. But other places tell different stories. Like yours. Stay cool!

We'll be moving to the south of France in a couple of days, and although temperatures might be the same over there, somehow it's different - it's easier to deal with. Probably has something to do with humidity...

I just go for the budget version and hang my ice packs in front on them using rope...😅
It is a scary thing how out of control it can start to become and how close we are to that edge. At least some work is being done on scrubbing the Co2 out with stuff like Climeworks is doing with their air capturing plants. It sure won’t be enough but buying a little more extra time is at least something.
