The Iris Florentina ^_^

in #life5 years ago (edited)

After a lot of rain during these day, I really needed a bit of sun for my old bones! Fortunately, after the lunch, the rain stopped and for about an hour the sun shined on the sky, so I enjoyed a walk with my hubby @paolobeneforti along the fields close to his father's home!

We had also a nice surprise: the cherries on a fruit tree were ready to eat and so our stmach were really happy! I dint't take photos of that moment, but believe me, to eat the first cherries of the season was great!

In the fields I watched some Iris Florentine flowers and so I want to share them with you:

They was not in good condition because too much rain, but hey are always beautiful flowers! The Iris Florentina is a variant of Iris Germanica and it's very common in my region. In some areas it's grown to produce a sened substance that can be use in the soaps, perfumes and others, but the most part of the plant is poisonous.

Just a curiousity: in the Renaissance period, the "Iris green" was a pigment used by painters of manuscripts ^_^

A note: I'm paying more attention to the plants in the fields, because my project in collaboration with my friend Cecilia, an herborist. ^_^

See ya soon and steem on!
