HOW WILL YOU SPEND CHRISTMAS?
How do you celebrate Christmas away from home? Are you working and living overseas and can't get home for christmas? if yes, welcome to the club of christmastication : D
Even though we are far from home. we still try to celebrate the christmas, because it is already a part of our soul, we always find ways to impart christmas in our lives.
How do we get excited for all the gifts. just seeing it makes me excited and jolly, i feel like I'm a kid again, and that Santa is coming. It is the time of year where love and sharing mostly prevail through the spirit of giving.
Tomorrow my sister's are coming to celebrate Noche buena with us, though everyone is busy with lives, Christmas for every hearts of Filipino is the most important festive season of the year. We can't be missed that, it will be terrible. Making lots of food, exchanging gifts and endless stories makes my heart and soul really happy. and a bonus of, my sister's gonna sleep in our house, (that means an endless stories and laughter's), when we are together, sister's be like stories not gonna end forever. just lovely.
even we are far from our parents, Our parents instill to our minds that whatever happens, Family is love - that we must take care and love each other all through out our lives. they always says that to us. I can say that even we have different lives now with our family of our own, we still are very close to each other. we all have the same interest. we all go to our escapade in Second hand clothes or Ukay- ukay in Filipino term or we go to outing or meet up and visit each other.
when we were children, I only knew about Santa, my gifts and Christmas parties at school. But now as I get older, things changes, I see Christmas is all about love, about family, about sharing and giving and about the children. This is my favorite month of the year. December is colorful, happy and it's about the happy Birthday of Jesus.
I know that christmas in the Philippines is entirely different from christmas in the Middle east, (where we live). But still, Filipinos always makes an effort, far or near from home. we are making a point to practice our traditions where ever we are. Filipinos are everywhere in the world, and i am proud of my heritage.
Back to Christmas in the Philippines, I think everyone is busy now, preparing for Noche buena and going to church. streets are packed up. a little bit sharing with my life when we were teenagers. in my home town in Dagupan city, when it's Christmas season, we have to wake up very early about 3:30 - 4 in the morning, to find a good spot to sell our goods in the market, because if you are late, you might find yourself at the end of the prime area of the market. I remember all those things and i missed it too, I remember those non endless haggling, bartering and shouting to get attention for your products.
How i wish it's Christmas everyday, well, that's not impossible if we put christmas in our hearts every time, then it's always be everyday christmas. That's a lot of fun i bet.
I am so excited about the Noche buena with my sisters, we will go to church on christmas day too.
What is your plan for Christmas?
