We Should All Be So Lucky As To Live A Life Like His
A WHEELCHAIR ATHLETE ELEVATING EVERYONE'S GAME
This is a big jump. It takes commitment. There's no calling it off at the last second. Get up enough speed, keep your line straight, let it fly and stick the landing. And stay and focused, because if your distracted things aren't going to end well.

This is the Nitro Circus, a creation from the mind of Daredevil Stuntman Travis Pastrana. A bunch of crazy young guys pushing it to the limit to entertain themselves and the ticket-buying masses. They make it look easy except when they crash and then it looks hard again, really hard. These guys are brave but they still get nervous because when they crash it hurts and when they crash they break and it happens more frequently than they would like. They aren’t entirely reckless though, they train and they practice and it helps to minimize injuries but not entirely. Someone's going to crash.

Yet there they stand atop of an 80' tall roll-in ramp, about to launch 50' up and 80' out. With motorcycles and BMX bikes, and scooters, and almost every sort of contraption you could imagine just to keep things interesting. But the thing that they all have in common is the ability to kick away that contraption when things start to go bad and the chance to get a foot under them to help minimize the hard bounce and slide that happens immediately after.

This is Aaron Fotheringham. He's in a wheelchair. He's strapped in. There's no kicking it away, no getting a foot under, no abating the hard bounce and slide to come. He practices too but it's harder for him. There are no easy bails.
When Aaron does a backflip, he throws his head back and watches as the world to rotates around to his wheels again. He can do doubles too. Now he has to watch twice as the world go by but's it's doable. But this is a front flip and front flips are different. The difference is you tuck in your chin and your arms and you go for it. You rotate blind and hope the world reappears exactly when you need it to. If it shows up too early expect a face plant if it shows up too late a concussion.

Aarons sort of contraption is a wheelchair and it wasn't by choice. This has made things harder for him but you wouldn't know it, because Aaron's is living the life of his wildest dreams.

Aaron is a hero and we should all be so lucky as to live a life like his.

Great post and very inspirational story so I would love to see more of it! It's a shame that often we need some life-changing event to make the necessary changes in life that can help us reach our potential, but hopefully stories like this can make us realize it is about making the most of what we have not matter what the circumstances are :)
Thank you Plush. Aaron is awesome and he's changing peoples perceptions of what a handicap is. Having a physical defect doesn't diminish you as a person. And as you say anything that can create focus and dedication in a persons life should be considered a blessing. I post about him now and again and others he's inspiring too. I'm including a link to video that tells his story in more detail than I can here.

I't great to see these positive stories here on Steemit, on other Social Media so much of what we hear/see is bad or terrible news.
