Trust Not Only Begets Trust, It Conquers Untrust

Thank you @carlgnash. I am honored with your kind words. I assure you though I would still have been respectful to you even if you were hostile to me. So please don’t feel sorry for anything as I don’t feel sorry for having trusted you or for that matter for having trusted your so called “spammers”. Because: “Trust Not Only Begets Trust, It Conquers Untrust.”

When I started on Steemit all I knew was that I was married to Blockchain for the rest of my life. Not because I would make money of Blockchain or Steemit, but because Blockchain would change the world, and I possibly might be able to play a tiny role in that change. That tiny role turned out to grow to such a scale that it got me into a state of “Shock & Awe” (may be I’ll write about it sometime).

If you think my responses are honest, Sir I assure you this one is going to be more honest than I am actually obligated to. Hmm, so how much honesty I am obligated to? Well, that’s for another time. But for now my honesty is not obligated to tell you that I am not dumb enough not to comprehend from the comments that the accounts you labelled as suspect are indeed questionable. But, who am I to question? I am not here to judge anyone whether their intent to resteem my post is genuine or unscrupulous. I am not here to police anyone, nor I am Sherlock Holmes to investigate their connection with the so called “Resteem Ring”. Scamming is neither my business, nor does it impact my business in any way enough to make it relevant for me to know about it. But, will I not pretend that I am so naïve not to know that their low reputation means they must have been flagged. But, I also know from the culture some of them come from, it is normal to knock any door for help, especially when they are not educated enough to know the consequences of their action. I also know a lot of Johns of Big Apple who do not have patience to tolerate that, and would flag them as spammers. You may not believe it, but I am not the one who flags anyone for their infractions,. In fact never ever done it, never ever will do it. Life has taught me to be patient and tolerant, and you will see that in all my writings so far.

Once I decided that I would give a 100% upvote to all gestures that spread the "Share Your Influence" message, it should not matter if that Steemian is a whale or a minnow or blacklisted by anyone.

With that honest confession you may hang me for my crime of $1+ upvotes to those you think are spammers, or you may blacklist me for doing that, but until my conscience tells me that my actions are outright wrong, I am not going to stop doing that. But for now I have paused because my conscience is in a state of mulling and deliberating on the “to be or not to be” dilemma.

Just think about it, if very legit people like you agree that my “post was well written and undervalued” and still chose to not resteem /curate or bring to the attention of Steemians, what moral authority they have to stop it being resteemed by lesser mortals?

If after reading a post, a lady with a good heart, actually goes out and feeds two homeless kids bringing tears of joys to the author, and it is still not a good enough story for a @carlgnash or any other member of the all powerful @curie to be shared, I feel no less ashamed of humanity as I am ashamed of humanity sleeping naked on the streets.

Tell the @valblomqvist story to New York Times and they will make it a lead story of the day. But it's still not important for the Steemit whales. Alas for the foolish human nature, expects too much from those living in ivory towers.

Why would I disrespect a Zero Rep Steemian who is at least willing to share his miniscule influence that he has to spread the message to his followers? Why should I suspect that their humane motive isn’t playing any part in dissiminating a humane message? Did I suspect your intentions when you chose not to dissiminate that very message? Are you telling me the posts written by Whales are the only ones that are appropriately valued? In my opinion most of what I have seen so far are self-serving and $-driven. If you agree they are, why don’t @curie downvote or flag them? Fodder for some future conversation!!

I hate to make long posts, so I would rather leave “Resteem Ring” & “Cheetah” for another time, and tell you something about the memes or the quotes or the images, whatever you chose to call, that most of my posts carry. Firstly, the quotes you see in each of those graphics are my own, and not copied or quoted from any known famous celebrity. For instance the quote about “trust” in this post expands on what has already been said by celebrities. They say:

Trust Begets Trust

I am saying:

Trust Not Only Begets Trust, It Conquers Untrust

Secondly, the images that you see on my blog posted from www.sharonomics.com site are bearing CC0 license (free for commercial use with no attribution required). Although attribution is not required, if you visit the site you will see an attribution link.

True to what I believe in, I did trust you when this conversation was started with untrust. I am not sure if I conquered your trust yet, but I sure can see from your tone that the untrust has certainly mellowed down. ☺

Finally, nothing in this post is intended to argue for or against. It is just a conversation with full respect to your point of you that does not allow you to contribute your influence to a cause just because I am not a whale that you would blindly trust. Unfortunately I am not a chat type of guy. But I can surely ask my associate to take on your chat offer soon. More on pending issues before I post “introduceyourself” most probably on 21st, one day before our “Share Your Influence” campaign ends.

Cheers ☺

Thanx so much dear sir @sharonomics for sharing your this Gd think . & now this post #resteem & upvote done .

Fair enough. I think you may actually be hurting your chances here with this philosophy, but obviously you can and should do what you want. If you are curious why I think that, please take a look at @patrice's blog and maybe you will gain a better understanding of why handing out $1+ upvotes to spammers is terrible for everyone here on Steem and indeed a true threat to the long term success of this platform. If you look at this in "risk / reward" terms, the reward you get from the resteems of these accounts is next to nothing. Those resteems are not reaching anyone of any stake. The risk is you are very likely to turn off the people who could help. I am not a major player on this platform by any means. I have been granted a nice delegation of SP in acknowledgement of the effort I put into curation, and I have earned a little over a thousand SP myself through my pretty prolific posting and commenting. But I still seem to be the largest upvotes you are getting here. Do you ever ask yourself why? Instead of questioning humanity, maybe you should question your strategy of pretty obviously and openly supporting resteem spammers. It is not a good look to anyone who knows anything about this platform.

One final note - although I am extremely jealous of my resteems, and hardly ever resteem anything on my main account except collaborations I have done with other posters and posts from my side project accounts - I would resteem a post from you about sharonomics and prosperism... if it explained the how of this project. How is this going to help the poor and homeless. I understand the issues of poverty and wealth inequality. I understand the concept behind AlgoShare. I have watched the video and visited multiple websites dedicated to this project and done a significant amount of research, read news articles, visited the crypto trading contest page, etc., and still have not seen any answers on how exactly the poor are going to be helped. Are a portion of the profits generated by AlgoShare going to be funneled into charities? Is the idea to somehow enable homeless people themselves to cryptotrade?

I am not going to support a project just because it sounds great and has some memes. Thanks by the way for clarifying the usage rights there - you kept referring to the memes as "your photographs" in the comments, and they were very clearly not "your" photographs, as a quick Google reverse image search easily reveals. You can understand why that seemed strange to me.

Ultimately it is up to you if you want to continue giving out upvotes to people who resteem your post, but I am pretty sure if you ask around the consensus would be that this is a terrible idea and you are likely shooting yourself in the foot for no gain in the first place.

Cheers and good luck - Carl

Thank you for commenting. I never claimed to know enough about how Steemit works, although I do believe a lot of things could have been a lot easier then they are. It took me one full weekend to figure out the simplest way to delegate steem that did not require going through multiple steps of figuring out vests and complex calculations. Steemit cannot be my full time engagement, at least not for now.

Every journey that I’ve so far taken up starts from ignorance and never ends up knowing enough. I will never know enough of anything Steemit included. That is the reason I said my conscience is mulling until I know the ethics of it. I am not here to do anything that hurts anybody let alone the platform. Nor I am here to be confrontational. My conversation goes on as long as it is cordial and non-confrontational. Regarding the "your photographs" thing I don't know where you got it from, but since it is getting confrontational, I would just leave it at that.

Anyway, our differences apart, I did learn a lot during these conversations I had with you, and I am grateful for that. Thank you for giving me so much of your time and honest opinion. It indeed means a lot to me.
Thanks again :)

Sure, not my intention to be confrontational RE the memes/photography, just trying to explain why I even brought up the memes in the first place. Looking back at the comments in the To Give or not to Give post I see it was not you who were claiming the photos were yours, I was recalling comments by other users asking when you would post new photos - something about them reposting the photos or something. Anyway, I reread it, and yes, you are right, you did not claim them to be your photos. Not trying to be confrontational.
