FLORAL MANTIS
Flower mantises are species that mimic flowers. Their coloring is an example of aggressive mimicry, a form of camouflage, in which colors and patterns of a predator lure prey. Most species of flower mantis belong to the family Hymenopodidae. Their behavior varies, but, as a rule, they climb on the plant until they reach a suitable flower, and then remain motionless until the extraction (insect) is within reach. Many of them use a threatening posture and a warning coloration to frighten or distract potential predators.
