The Beau-Monde, The art and the BLOCKCHAIN Generation

in #life8 years ago

Well, I hope you all had a nice weekend guys and are ready for the working week that lies ahead of us (for some it may be on steemit, for some out in the big world).

Thanks to some of my new steemit buddies (mentioned at the end of this post), I was inspired to write this article to bring to you (or rather to share with you), some amazing history and music.

The point of this article is to show all (especially in the last light of things), that this platform has class and, WE the users have a taste for the great things in life.

So, what are we going to talk about?

Well class and art are wide subjects and if readers will enjoy, I will make this into a series. But today we are going to discuss the music that inspired millions of people and more than that is a godsend to a few generations.

Imagine that 30-s atmosphere in a bar; smoke of cigarillos and papirossos along to cocktails and champagne; the dresses and the beautiful men and women ; the live music in the background...

Its interesting to note that a lot of those composers and singers that I will speak about are considered to be anarchists in society, which of course is more than related to us:

The “BLOCKCHAIN” Generation.

I don’t think that I am going to keep up a particular order of things. But I do want to share with you some great music and my thoughts on how it was inspirational.

It can be discussed for long whether they were chansonniers or the music genre is to be called melodie.

Regardless of the name, their music is more than art, it’s a brick in the FOUNDATION of the society.

The First name on my “beau-monde” list is Leo Ferre. For those who don’t know who that is, shame on you guys! He is argued to have given “birth” to the anarchist society of today.

His songs addressed issues of the day, so did his poetry and other work. Love was mixed with revolution!

I will not discuss the translation of the song, as I am not a fluent French speaker, but you are welcome to look out for it, the lyrics are sad and very romantic.

He was a soldier, a student, an artist, a writer, a poet, a musician, an inspiration and much more.

"Thanks to Leo, we will have to rewrite the history of literature!"
Louis Aragon

I was contemplating for a long time whether she should be first on my list, but as it’s not in any particular order, here we go. Edith Piaf!

I think that even if you are not familiar with this music, you have certainly heard her name.

From early days of her career she was adored by the (future) queen of England, by Marcel Cerdan and many more among the thousands of her admirers.

Not many know that Edith was blind until the age of six. Many say that first what she saw, when she started to see were piano keys. She was also brought up by prostitutes in a brothel.

She played a huge role during the German occupation to support people with her music. It became the soul and the mirror of people’s emotions during the war.

In my personal opinion today’s music world, wouldn’t be the same without her work. Her desire to conquer the world with her music made her stood out and helped her survive the hundreds of scandals she was involved in.

Maurice Chevalier – not only a singer, but also an actor.

To me he brought the French music of the time to fame by becoming a well know person on the Broadway.

He was more known for his acting skills and correct me if I am wrong, but I think he did receive an Oscar and was familiar with Chaplin.

But his music is no less important and maybe he was given his role as a womanizer by the press, but his talent in music cannot be argued with.

Marlene Dietrich; oh that name (!) has me falling into nostalgia straight away! Not only a great voice, but a beautiful woman of her time (hell, she would have been a hit of magazines today!)

She influenced so many subjects in our life, I’m not sure where to begin. Fashion, music, art, movies, style and most importantly the mind of women!

Her example of a strong, sexy and independent woman became a core stone in the way women begun to think.

A lot will argue that she was not the best singer or actress. But the hell with them! Her influence on the bohemia could not have been more! And whether it’s for her voice or the scandals it doesn’t really matter.

Jan Kiepura – a tenor to be jealous of forever!

Maybe his life not as famous as those of others, but his influence was not much less.

He was an actor and a singer, and died rather at a young age.

His music had an influence at time when the Jews begun to prejudiced and prosecuted around Europe before the second world war.

A bit hard not to mention some American names. And I will mention two out (as I don’t want to go into jazz on this post) of hundreds.

First is of course that of Glenn Miller! The king of swing and the big band.

The music of Miller has no past or present in my understanding. It is the music of always, of all times and generations.

Hundreds of orchestras today still play his music and tour the world in fame.

The influence of the music world by him is not needed in my help to describe it =)

Of course this article wouldn’t be full if not for my favorite – Mr. Frank Sinatra! How many rumors and stories might not surround his life, his voice will always stay “golden”.

In fact I think that description of Sinatra’s voice should be made illegal, as it has none.

The most admirable part in his career is that he never forgot his roots, no matter how high he got.

His music and voice dominate and will carry on dominating the way in which we view the musical world for ever.

The last name of my list for today is Dalida.

And straight away what comes to mind is this:

But she was much more than that song. Her fame all across Europe and Asia was not empty. Her lyrics carry so much emotion in so many different languages.

Until today her songs are translated, redone and the lyrics re-used.

Her career of course begun much later than those I mentioned above, but I could not leave her out

In conclusion i would like to point out that inspiration and muse can be found at many places.

This music is all about love and art.
