Toxic Smog New Delhi, India @senseicat

in #life7 years ago

Steemit is an interesting avenue to learn about new subjects from all over the world. While I was commenting on an interesting blog, it prompted me to do some research and it led me to the major issue of life threatening smog at India's capital city. It turns out that 6 out of 10 of India's major cities experience the deadly amounts of smog. It is due to burning crops (it is cheaper than to destroy it other ways), power plants, and additional cars due to the population increase. Smog in India outpaces Beijing, China!

View this video from BBC and comment on how we can help reduce this problem please @senseicat

It would be awesome if our steemit community would gather to help improve social issues in our own neighborhood, but also around the world.

Terrible news! but considering India's growing population at a gigantic rate this is only the beginning...

Canned fresh air is going to be a hit sale just like in China

It is heartbreaking.

Get your shit together India. Either get a hold of your rising levels of air pollution or mother nature will find a way to kill off your citizens with diseases and cancers and force a reduction in your pollution. Make the smart moves, think green. @senseicat

The effects are already happening. The residents are suffering tremendously via major health crisis and school closures are evidence of the vastness of this problem. We need to pool our resources and find a viable solution. We all share this planet.

Having a healthy environment to live to should be there 1st priority... Just saying...
Nice post..Thanks for sharing.. :)

It's terrible.People need to be conscious.

It is not easy, to be able to face a problem as big as pollution, it is necessary the willingness of different public and private sectors to face the causes of it, in the case of India that has reached such critical levels, it is necessary that the government and each citizen understand that each of their actions are responsible for that. And that in their hands is the power to correct it.

There are simple solutions that the citizen can do, how to use public transport, recycle, avoid excessive consumerism, among others. Also the Create and apply (this last is the most important) environmental laws that prevent that polluting is more lucrative than not doing it.

It is a state of emergency situation and I think that it may require a multitude of interventions starting with the residents.

But it is still a problem in the way we think, as it is possible that existing technology for the manufacture of electric cars, but so far that is investing in that sector, or that in Spain for example there is the so-called tax to the sun "Impuesto al Sol", that is, if my house uses renewable energy, I must pay a tax that is more expensive than paying an electric company. (which personally I think it does not make sense)

That is why I say that governments, companies and citizens should want to solve the problem

I enjoy our dialogues. Yes, renewable energy has been a hot topic for decades and considerable more efforts need to make it an affordable option. Everything from the cost/use of windmills, water, solar to harness energy continue to cost more than standard methods. An electric car costs more than a gas fueled vehicle and never mind the cost of repairing it if something goes wrong.

Man this is so bad. I don't know how they can live in such an environment. Bless them and .... their lungs.
