I think that good cleaning habits were developed when I was young. I was responsible for cleaning my room once a week as well as one other room in the house. As an adult, I clean once a week and then a few "deep" cleaning during the year.

It is often easier just to clean our home when my son is in school, but I realized that it is a gift to teach my child how to be clean and the benefits of living in a clean environment. It does take time and patience and sometimes a little "redo" on the tasks as he is learning, but it is well worth it.
