Millionaire Gives Up Home & Possessions In Exchange For Happiness @senseicat

in #life7 years ago

Jeff Altucher, author and entrepreneur gave away everything he owned and decided to live as a nomad.

His efforts was to seek true happiness and he says that he achieved increased creativity and contentment by giving up all of his possessions.

His current possessions, all 15 items, are carried in a small bag and it includes a "laptop, iPad, three sets of chinos, three T-shirts and a Ziploc bag filled with $4,000 worth of $2 bills (“People always remember you if you tip with $2 bills.")

He felt that his lifestyle was a sham so his ambitions is "to have no ambition."

He refers to college as "a waste of money" despite having graduated from Cornell.

In the book he authored, "40 Alternatives to College,” he says, "young adults could travel the world, educate themselves online and start a business with the same $200,000 they may spend on college."

In Choose Yourself book, he mentions that investing the money with even a 5 percent return would offer greater financial benefit over the course of a lifetime.

He also believes homeownership is a rip-off and that “Nobody should put more than 5 to 10 percent of their portfolio, their assets, in any one investment."

Furthermore, he thinks stocks are also a racket.

As a millionaire, he spent 1.8 million on a loft and flew on a helicopter for weekend getaways. Regardless of his lavish lifestyle, he felt poor and "felt like I needed 100 million to be happy."

He invested in a variety of companies and nothing worked out so he read investment books and focused on the stock market. Unfortunately, he lost everything during the 2008 financial crisis.

hope jeff altucher happy with his decision, thank you for sharing information @senseicat, and do not forget support me, success always for you and best regards from @ riska-amanda

Yes, it would be interesting to see how he feels about his decision since it has only been a few month ago that he started his new nomadic lifestyle.

I read all your posts @senseicat dear, even all his line have nothing to miss, it's a story like this rarely happens, even almost never happened, maybe the decision he took was best for him and make him happy

This is the rich people problem they feel boring with the wealthy life, for the people who still struggle to reach the wealthy state of life it is the big dream to arrive at the jeff altucher stage of life.

This is truly unprecedented. Money never ever buys happiness because sadly most of the people are craving for wealth.

It is interesting that many lottery winners say they were happier before winning.

Money will never be able to guarantee that the owner will live happily, and may, on the contrary, preach the owner.

And poor though not necessarily you can not be happy, it could be simiskinlah happier than people who much money.

Good post
