We are surrounded by so much natural beauty and one of my personal goals is to spend a few days camping at each of our national parks.

There are 59 national parks in the United States and Yellowstone was designated as the first national park.

Of the 27 states that have national parks, the most frequently visited is Great Smoky Mountains located in North Carolina and Tennessee while Grand Canyon comes in second.

The criteria to become a national park include, "natural beauty, unique geological features, unusual ecosystems, and recreational opportunities."

I thought this was an interesting look at the actual monetary value of our national parks based on land value, economic output, and jobs that are supported.
