in #life6 years ago

Bernardo Jaramillo and Mel Ortega have spent 15,000 hours driving disabled veterans for medical treatments at hospitals in the past 16 years.

Ortega is 85 years old and has driven 200,000 miles and Jaramillo is 70 years old and has driven 100,000 miles.

These two men serve smaller less populated communities in New Mexico by transporting vets for major procedures and other treatments that may be unavailable in rural areas.

The Disabled Veterans Association is a non profit that helps vets and families apply for benefits as well as this much needed service.

Thank you, some time ago, make a publication asking for the collaboration of many communities, however, the only ones who supported the publication were you @senseicat and @socky, In the imgen, you can see that, with your contribution, we managed to buy corn flour, This flour is used to make arepas. The arepas are distributed in the street to the people forgotten by all, we try to bring smiles to the most needy and you made this possible. Thank you!!! Sorry for the bad English. A hug!! I did not want to miss the opportunity to thank you. This message was shared with each one of you.

Bless them @senseicat. Their act is worth emulating. Send my warmest regards to them...

It is admirable that they invest their time and effort into such life impacting service that benefits everyone.

Indeed @senseicat and those kinds of people should grow in numbers right? and we steemians can definitely do the same thing

When i read vets i thought you were talking about veterinarians xD It's a shame what the gov does to the war vet, first they send them overseas to "protect" our freedom AKA make a bad country even worse so we can sell them weapons and get money that way, when the vets are finally home they toss them aside like they were garbage almost not providing any benefits to them...
At least someone is doing something for them

Yes, I completely agree. It really pulls my heart strings when I see a vet who is homeless, indication of not receiving the respect that is well deserved.

really a nice job..
thaks for sharing such good news.
it inspired us.
I appreciate it..
@upvoted & @resteemed

The real heroes are often unheard of. Thank you for bringing their stories to light, such an inspiration
