Why You Don't Need A Mentor
There is this interesting concept floating around that you need someone else who has done something one way to tell you how do to do it using their way which may have only worked for them. The real concern is people spending so much time seeking out help and or mentorship instead of trying to help themselves. They want to spend time looking for quick success but not working for it. The joke of it all is that you could just have spent all that time to earn success and you never try to. This is my take on this mentality.

It all depends on what you do with information you learn from them. Having a mentor, even just absorbing information from lots of successful people, can be super helpful at times
It can be, but like I said there is a major difference from having a mentor and seeking one. And again most people get caught in the trap that, what they teach is the only way, but that's just what worked for them. I think discovering yourself is more important than to learn from others

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with your premise that you do not need a mentor. Ok, technically you do not NEED a mentor, but even a bad mentor can teach something if only just what to avoid or what not to do...
At the beginning of the video you mentioned that you do not need a mentor because they will not give you a shortcut or fast track to success. That is correct but a good mentor will make you understand that you have to do it yourself and can give guidance during tough times and can keep you grounded if you hit a sudden streak of good luck that may make you lose focus.
You also mentioned that you do not need a mentor or that it is not good to want to mentor others because they then give up and do not want to put in the work. This is absolutely wrong and misleading. A good mentor will not give up on someone they believe in and will not let them give up on themselves. While it is true that a solid 90% of folks really do not want to change their lives, they will not challenge the status quo, and they only LIKE the idea of being successful; it is wrong to say that it is not worth trying to help those who want to help themselves. I believe in the law of averages. As a former salesman I have seen that getting discouraged after reject after reject is toxic! If you keep your head down and do not keep trying you may miss the opportunity of a lifetime. You may miss out of being the Don King of the next Mike Tyson!
I only said you should not want a mentor because seeking out someone to help you help yourself instead of just helping yourself is wasting your own time. I think anyone who was going to be successful would have anyway and anyone who won't, won't. Now I do believe maybe mentors or someone like myself posting a video and sharing could maybe snap someone into figuring it out earlier, but the flaw in seeking out mentorship is that you put the responsibility to improve, to change on someone else's shoulders.
