The difference between you and yours

Who we are and what we have accumulated over time are two different things.

When I say what ''we have accumulated'' I am not exclusively refering to material things but also all our experiences.

However we mistake ourselves with the things and qualities we have gathered. We falsely identify at some point with all the things we have acquired.

Let's use an example here. What has someone aquired when he or she graduates from Medical school? Knowledge, skills experience and a diploma. I think we can all agree on that.

Then again knowledge, skills and experience are something different from you. It is YOUR knowledge, YOUR skills etc. It is not YOU. Now all the things you have gathered you can use. But in order to use something you don't have to identify with it.

The more you identify yourself with the things you have accumulated the more you lose the real you.
What ever you accumulate will always only be yours - it can never be you!

Now, when we live identified with the qualities and things we have accumulated, we will never be ourselves.

What will happen if all you’ve ever accumulated falls apart or ceases? You will still be there but all that was yours is gone.
I guess we all prefer to mold ourselves into existing ways furthermore we like to identify with certain roles.

Why? Because it is always easier to use or adopt a pre made structure and follow it instead of uncover one's own structure.

We all should learn how to become ourselves.

And no, neither your name, nor your job, nor your family, nor your friends, nor your diploma, not your status, not your bank balance are you.

Understand the difference between you and yours!

It is a dark path because nobody can shed a light for you there. But when you don't know darkness - you can never know light.
