What Is Your Source of Inspiration?
Human beings can be really weird sometimes. We have so much potential to achieve anything we put our minds to, as is evident from the world we live in, and yet, on an individual level, we often find ourselves struggling to even stay afloat.
It is my personal belief that the average human is not utilising their full potential and have succumbed to a life of ‘getting by’. Sure, not every one is a genius like Einstein, but I’d like to believe that everyone can have a large impact on the world, in their own way.
We are not completely to blame though as life can be cruel sometimes and no matter how good you are, the circumstances just don’t let you flourish in those times. We’ve all gone through the many ups and downs of life and know exactly how it feels.
No matter what the case is, the presence of a source of inspiration is very important in any person’s life, especially in today’s world full of noise and distractions where getting lost can be really easy!
Why You Need Inspiration
The way that I have come to understand the importance of inspiration is that, it can be a handy catalyst for your spirit. Basically, it is an igniter that can fill your life with light and cast away the darkness.
This reminds me of something that Professor Dumbledore says to Harry Potter in one of the movies, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Inspiration, is that light.
People have achieved remarkable, world changing feats just because they were inspired by someone or something to do so. Just think about what 7.5 billion people could do with something like that. The world would never be the same.
Also, in the lowest points of life, a source of inspiration can be a light of hope which gives you the strength to just hold on until the storm passes. Trust me, I have had many of these in my life and hope is always what kept me going.
It Can Come From Anywhere
The thing about inspiration is that, it can come from anywhere. Maybe you are waking in the park one day and happen to notice an elderly couple who end up inspiring you to write a novel about the strength of love.
Maybe you notice an ant colony and get inspired by the immense amount of hard work that the tiny ants do everyday or by any historical figure that changed the world forever and propelled it into the future.
Any of your friends can be a source of inspiration too. I have one such friend who is a really happy-go-lucky type and always seems to be undeterred by any hardships that may come in his way.
It doesn’t even have to be a person! Heck, even a tree can inspire you in the way it stands strong no matter the season of the year, providing shed and fruits to other people who need it. Inspiration can truly, come from anywhere. You just have to look.
My Inspiration In Life
I have written about this before and some of you may already know this about me. My source of inspiration in life isn’t even real, it’s a fictional cartoon character in an anime show that I have watched since my childhood (and still do today).
I am talking about a character named Goku from the Dragon Ball Z series. It’s a really popular show and he is a really popular character in the world among enthusiasts. Basically, he is a human looking being from outer space and is a fighter who saves the Earth countless times with the help of his other fighter friends. He even gave his own life to save Earth once.
He is beaten countless times, often to the point of death but he never refuses to give up. No matter how strong the enemy is, he always finds the strength in him, to rise higher and break his own limits every single time. He actually looks forward to keep pushing his limits and grow stronger.
He is the one I turn to in the darkest times of my life and you might find that funny but it works for me every time. Just knowing that you have the capacity and strength to face anything in life, is a huge realisation and it is one that has kept me going through some real tough times.
Well said. Couldn' wrote it better! Just the thing I needed to read after long, busy and a little depressing day.
I am glad that it could help in any manner :)
For me, it comes as a result of the way I feel awestruck when observing how we as human beings have come this far, from such small beginnings, to understand and master the Universe and its laws to the extent that we have. How I feel humbled when reflecting on how much our current well-being is a result of the efforts, struggles, and sacrifices of brave, smart, innovative, ambitious and creative scientists, inventors, philosophers and persons contributing to the progress of mankind.
When I reflect on that incredible journey we are on, and the fact that I, right now, have an opportunity in this brief period that I am alive, to contribute to its further progress, I am not only inspired and motivated, I feel like I am part of something greater than myself.
Wow man. You and I have the exact same thoughts about this. It's like you took the words out of my brain and typed this!!! I always think about the same and get lost in these thoughts for hours on end! Everything that we are today is the sum of everything that we did in the past. We are lucky to have had some great, smart people that have pushed humanity forward by centuries.
You are lucky that you get to be a part of something that has such a direct impact on humanity. I am happy for you. Much respect :)
Hehe, yes I do get the impression that we tend to be on the same page a lot more often than not^^
Oh I'm just humble that I get to be a part, if only a small part (yet), of this great endeavor. But the next years are going to be a whole lot more exciting, as space is opening up more to new players as launch frequencies goes up and costs goes down ;)
Yes, that's pretty exciting. I hope I get to go to space one time in my life. :)
