Keep Improving

in #life6 years ago

I get am before no be property - Naija slang (Meaning: The past successes of yesterday may not guarantee today's success if they are not improved upon).

This; in my opinion; is absolutely truism - if you quit working on the areas you've succeeded at; and becoming better; before you know wassup, what was considered a success might degenerate to a failure with time.

Maybe this would give you a little insight: When you graduated from primary school (probably as the best pupil in the class), do you quit advancing your education and beat your chest that you have made a very fine primary school result? Well, in just few years, that certificate could mean almost nothing. Imagine you; at your present age; still glorying over your "fine" primary school result as your highest certificate, how would you look like?

Success; like it has been said repeatedly; is not a destination, neither is it an attainment, but it is actually a progression. And not until you've removed the "destination" mentality, you may not see success as what it truly is. That is why we need to keep improving ourselves. Imagine if all you know how to operate is your table fixed-wired telephone; in this era of smart phones; you would be grounded.

But for you to make steady successes, you must be willing to take risks, and take them repeatedly without recourse to whether you've tried similar risks in the past and failed - after all, failing at the first attempt is still part of the success story; but only if you get your arse up.

"It can only get better" is not just a profession or assumption, it demands some obvious responsibilities - and one of them being that; you must get up from your rest and try something new and different. Being outstanding often demands that you must stand out from the crowd when it comes to taking risks. Remember, success (and failure) is a function of your actions/inactions.
