Friendship; Your Choice

in #life6 years ago (edited)

To a considerably fair extent, the friends you make determines the outcome of your life. You are either placed on the path of being made or marred by the people you associate with. People have been chanting "make friends!!", but the truth is; a wrong friendship is one of the worst things that can happen to someone. But looking at it on the bright side; true and good friends are truly priceless in the journey of life - and that is why I have always advocated for people to make the right friends.

Do you choose your friends or do your friends choose you? Which ever way you look at it; if the person you seek for their friendship is not enroute in the same destination as you are, then you need to think again. Remember this particular adage:

Show me your friends...

I'm sure you can even complete these words without thinking twice. But have you given these words some overt interpretations? When you stay close beside smoke; for example; it wouldn't be long, and you would start smelling smokey. In the same way; when you move in the company of people with ill attitude, it wouldn't be long and your attitude would be compromised.

Friendship is never a concept you are imposed on by someone or a particular system, it is your absolute prerogative to select the people you want to be friends with - and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Moving with the wrong people would only hamper the goodness in you. Even though some people might be good, but that doesn't mean they're right for you.

Just like "goat and yam" can't be friends, some friendship may eternally not work out, so you need to decipher the kind of friendship you desire. But don't forget to make yourself friendly, so the right friends can locate you.

Peace on y'all

I totally agree, pick your friends wisely or you may be stabbed in the back.

This; exactly; summarizes the post.
Thanks a lot

Friends are the family we choose. So choose wisely!

Nicely said Sammy! 😇

You're absolutely correct Ruthie. Our friends are the family we choose.

Thanks for that insight Ruthie

Hi Samminator,
Short and sweet post but to the point! You are correct that while some people may be good, their goodness is not always an indicator that they're right for you. However, sometimes connecting with "bad" people can bring about a learning experience; whether it is you that brings beneficial relations to the table, or perhaps you learn from the bad person's faults... All relationships, good and bad, bring about social growth.
I am a firm believer and preacher that you are the company you keep.
:)

Sure, sometimes we need to connect with the not-so-good, so as to acquire some life's experiences.
I agree with you on that.

I have been following your work; you always have very interesting posts. I'm wondering if you have taken into consideration whether or not there is a possibility that electromagnetics influence human interaction. I'd like to know, for example, do you think opposites attract?
