For the sake of mercy

in #life4 years ago

It is not every time that punishment should follow misdeeds, there should be room for mercy. We may not appreciate the need for mercy until we become the ones that are in desperate need of the mercy. There are some corrections that will better make sense when mercy is employed. I mean, you will make it clear to the person the complementary punishment that should have followed his actions but you just let mercy rule. Believe me, the correction will sink deep.

At a point in our lives, we have all experienced mercy (at least to some extent), so why will you not show it to others in return? It is worthy to note that you need to sow mercy if you are to reap mercy. More often than not, mercy does not just jump on people but as a result of their former acts of mercy. Believe me, when you show mercy to others when they need it, others will be watching and they will do the same to you when you need it.

I once made a statement and I will reiterate it again: not all wars are won with swords and arrows, some are won with forgiveness and mercy. As a matter of fact, you cannot win the war of evil by employing another evil but by bringing in good. In the same way, in this world of cruelty, you need to be different in order for you to create a difference. If you treat others like the rest of the world, then you are not different, but if you treat them with mercy and compassion, then you are creating a difference.

I always like to reference the case of the shepherd that left all his other herds look for his lost sheep when I talk about this context. Well, many people may not fully understand the reason behind what the shepherd did because they are not the lost sheep. When you put yourself in the position of the lost sheep, then you will appreciate what the shepherd did. You see, we always want people to forgive our sins but do we also forgive the sins of others?

A point may come in your relationship with others when you will realize that it is far better to be kind than to be right. Being kind is without recourse to who is right. If being right will cost you your acts of kindness, then you need to have a rethink. Posterity will only remember you for the goodness you showed, so try to sow a seed of goodness and mercy.
