Continuity in learning

in #life4 years ago

One of the proves that you are living and not just merely existing is learning new things. When someone stops to learn is when they start to die. As long as we are alive, every day, there is at least something new to learn. It may be from interaction with people, from media, books and whatnot, but learning cannot but take place.

The more you learn new things about a particular subject matter, the more you discover how ignorant and limited your knowledge have been all these while. The more you discover these things, the more you realize that you have more things to learn. Learning and knowledge is without recourse to age but it is mainly based on experiences. Someone may be young but through relative experiences, may possess more knowledge than his seniors - this is because he has learnt more than them.

What puts the difference between people is not necessarily age but what the person possesses on the inside. The world will only salute you for the solution you can provide (which is a direct result of the knowledge you have) and not your age.

If the only thing you know is the thing that was taught you in your field in the college, then your relevance in this era is very bleak. You need to learn wider than your specific field because you may not know when that knowledge will be demanded or where it will be applied.

The world is already filled with mean competitors and for you to have an edge in the world, you need to bring something extra to the table. It is the extra you are willing to add to your knowledgebase that will make you to come up with extraordinary knowledge and result. Do not just stop at learning the fundamentals, go beyond them. Always remember that you do not need just facts to pass exams but you also need details.

Learning should form part of your life and something that flows naturally. Anywhere you are and at any time, there must be something new to learn. Try to see every situation that comes to you as an avenue to learn new things. Most of the things that are worthwhile are learnt from experience (either personal experience or from other people's experiences).

When learning from someone, do not allow age or social status to becloud your sense of reasoning. Believe me, most times, treasures are not hidden in fancy and attractive containers but in earthen vessels. So just humble yourself and grab the knowledge you require to become better.
