Your Boss Notices much more about you than the Work you put in

in #life6 years ago

I have been working for about two years now and work life has given me everything I did and didn’t expect from it. I have learned not just new skills but a lot of ways of handling situations that I never thought I would be able to. The beauty of learning in a work environment is that you don’t realize how far you’ve come until you stop and take a look at your old self for a while. It’s only then that you start remembering what your weaknesses once used to be and how you have overcome them with time. I believe that two years is not a lot of time but it’s about how you manage that time to learn as much as you can and groom yourself as per the requirement.
Since it is mostly about how you compose yourself, you must be vigilant at all times, during different situations because your boss doesn’t only look at the work you are doing but also HOW you are doing it. They notice not just your skills but also your personality traits just to make out how you would be beneficial to the environment or vice versa. If you are a working man or woman, know that here are the 5 most common things your boss is noticing you every day. (well, almost.)

Punctuality
No matter what your performance is at the office, your boss IS going to notice your timings of checking in and checking out of the office. Some offices work on the hourly system so the time of checking in and out doesn’t matter. However, it still leaves an impact on the boss because that sets an impression that you are serious about your work and that your office and work timings are important for you to follow. This doesn’t mean that you have to sit in late and put your social life aside. I have noticed that a lot of people think that sitting in late and giving extra time to office is efficiency. I strongly believe that it is actually stupid to give in more than what you’re being paid for. If it’s something important for which you have to sit in late, then it must be compensated and should not be done on a regular basis.

The way of talking
The way you speak with people and interact with them plays a big part in defining your role at the office. You should try to be clear in your speech and only loud enough to be heard. Being unnecessarily loud and using slang and foul language might put off your boss and some of your employees. Sure you can make friends at the office try to stay professional in the office environment because that reflects your commitment and seriousness towards work office environment.

Social behavior
You might think your boss doesn’t care about your relationship with the employees but the truth is that how you interact and mingle with your employees also creates a strong impact on your personality. You shouldn’t find it too difficult to get along with your fellow employees. This also doesn’t mean that you have to be friends with everyone around you. At times when you are having a difficulty getting along with your group member, try to be subtle about it and resolve it yourself. Of course in some cases, you might have to involve other people but being the odd person out that often don’t get along with people will only make you seem like the troublemaker at the office and I'm pretty sure that your boss wouldn’t like that.

Problem-Solving skills
No matter what organization you are working in, you will be facing problematic situations at some point and if anything, that is one of the most useful things you learn at the office. Ou gradually starts understanding situations and whenever a problem occurs, you start thinking about the solution instantly. In the beginning, I used to be scared of taking responsibility but with time I started realizing that is what defines you and your problem-solving skills take you far in life.

Decision Making
Again, I used to be super scared of taking decisions without being given the time to think and to discuss with my boss. With time, I realized that not everything is to be discussed with the boss and sometimes you have to instantly take decisions when you don’t have much time on your plate. After some time, I started realizing that our fear is what makes situations difficult and our lack of confidence is what makes us confused. Matters can only be simplified by our own sense of decision making. If you go to your boss inquiring every little thing from him or her, that might put them off!
