There is a commandment that says "Thou shalt not kill." Do soldiers break this command everytime they kill?

Alright, I think I like this question especially as it bothers around christianity.

The bible in the book of Exodus 20:13 says that one should not commit murder. However, we need to look at the underlying meaning of the word.

Now murder, as used in this'll context, isn't just any killing. It is killing as a result of premeditated malice. When soldiers are involved in war they do so to protect the country they are representing, to protect the citizen. They do not do so with premeditated violence and I think that is what differentiates war killings from killings that stems from evil, from a heart of wickedness, from malice.

Also, if you remember, the bible stated in the new testament that those involved in military service are instituted by God and that the acts that they do are in accordance with instructions they receive. So, we wouldn't say that they are murder if they have to kill in line with their duties.

They do not kill with intent of malice. I think in carrying out their duties, they are not disobeying the sixth commandment. Rather, they are simply carrying out their duties as soldiers or law enforcement agencies. Thank you.
