A QUICK INSIGHT INTO THE STAR THAT LED THE ASTROLOGERS (WISE MEN) TO THE PLACE OF JESUS' BIRTH - BETHLEHEM

From the east came the Astrologers. An Astrologer is a person who studies stars. With the use of stars, they believe they can interpret what happens in a person’s life.
The Astrologers were at the East when, the star appeared and they followed the star as it led to Jerusalem and not Bethlehem (the place of Jesus’ birth). The Astrologers already knew about the prophecy leading to the birth of Jesus, so they believed the star was going to lead them to where Jesus was born.

When the Astrologers reached Jerusalem, they asked, ‘Where is the born child who is to become the king of Jews? We saw his star at the East and that is the more reason why we have come to do obeisance to him’, they said.
This news got to the hearing of the reigning king Herod of that time and he became worried. Immediately, he gathered the chief priests and other religious leaders of the Jews, and asked them where the Christ is to be born? They answered according to how it has been prophesied – Bethlehem.

Following that, he asked that the astrologers present themselves before him, but in secret. Then he told the astrologers, ‘Go find the child, and when you find him, come back to report to me, so that I myself will be able to go and do obeisance to him’. But King Herod had evil intentions planted in his heart – To exterminate the innocent young child.

The same star that led the astrologers from the East now began leading them again to where the young child is. It’s now clearly seen that the star isn’t ordinary, it was actually sent by someone, because it is impossible for the star to have been operating on its own without a director. They followed the star until it stopped over the roof where Joseph, Mary and young Jesus were found.

They didn’t hesitate to get into house, on getting into the house, they did obeisance to the young child. They later did present gifts namely: Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.

They wanted to be loyal to King Herod to give reports of where the young child could be found, but they were strictly warned in a dream not to return to King Herod. They heeded the warning, so they took a different route back to where they came from - their country.

So the question to ask now is;

• WHO SENT THE STAR TO LEAD THE ASTROLOGERS?

Recall that at first, the star didn’t lead them to Bethlehem where the child could be found, but rather the star led to Jerusalem, where the intended killer, King Herod is based. We could also ask;

• COULD GOD BE THE ONE WHO DIRECTED THE STAR?
• IF HE WAS THE ONE, WOULD HE HAVE WARNED THE ASTROLOGERS IN A DREAM NOT TO RETURN TO KING HEROD?
• WHAT WE WOULD HAVE SAID ARE HIS INTENTION(S) OR MOTIVE(S) FOR USING A STAR TO DIRECT THE ASTROLOGERS IN SUCH A WAY?

It is crystal clear that Satan, the devil who is God’s enemy sent the star to direct the astrologers. It directed them to the person whose intention was to kill the young child as soon as he is found, no other person would have done this if not SATAN, THE DEVIL!
